COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour, barrel-aged version of the beer by the same name. Brewed in collaboration with Maui brewing.

Yes, Michigan and Hawaii are connected. It should be obvious to you now, as you hold this beer, and read this label. John and I designed this beer with two noble fruits from two noble states, Michigan & Hawaii. Cherries and liliko’i. Starting to see the connection? I feel it. So does John. 4391 miles may separate our breweries, but no our thirst for the exquisite. Hipa! -Ron

Working with Ron is something I’ve always want to do since I had my first Jolly Pumpkin beer. Years later, it’s a reality. Being involved on this project was an honor and a privilege. Mahalo to my MBC crew and to you, fans of craft beer! -John

Bottle pours a murky reddish color with off white head. Aroma is tart cherry peel, funk, leather, and is pretty earthy. Highly carbonated and is real lively. Tastes like it smells and is a bit green right now. I think this is solid right now and will be even better with a touch of age on it.

Outstanding sour, lots of cherry throughout. Body is thin and very translucent. Lots of cherry in the nose and though the palate. The tart and funkiness starts at the beginning of the palate and continues all the way through to the finish.

My 100th sour/ wild rating. Yeah! Poured side BH side with the Maui version. This one was the better by far. Pours a clear, dark red brown with a beige head of foam thay fizzes out quickly. The aroma is dark cherry notes with juicy acidity. Mouthwatering. The taste is fruity and funky with a mediumevel of acidity. Medium body and medium carbonation. Delicious beer!

Bottle from Corvallis Brew Supply, Corvallis. Pours a slightly cloudy orange-amber, lots of head. Aroma full of oaky notes and cherry, very crisp despite its age. Body lively and arch, full yet light, with a residual effervescence. Finish tart, juicy, with just a hint of spice and yeast, really nice.

"As expected, liked this significantly better than the complex, but somewhat boring, Maui version. Of course, it cost far more as well. The acidic aroma and fairly strong sour aspects of this beer really accentuated the cherries and passion fruit in a way the Maui version did not. Pleasantly sour and tasty."

750 ml bottle shared with drsordr. Pours a hazy amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma has tart/sour fruit, citrus and a touch of funk. The flavor has an opening burst of tart/sour citrus and fruit, acidic, falls off quickly, mid-palate some cherry and additional fruit comes back, light funk.

Bottle bough @ Bierkompass.de. Pours murky yellowish red with a frothy pinkish offwhite head that leaves lots of spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity and funky with sourdough bread, ripe passionfruit, moist hay, sour cherries, barnyard, unflavored yoghurt, moist wood, leather and hints of red wine vinegar. Taste is sour, fruity and slightly funky with sourdough bread, red wine vinegar, sour cherries, passionfruit, cereal, leather, sour milk, moist hay, barnyard, cherry skins and hints of acetic acid. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, tiny mouth-puckering and medium bodied. Finish is sour and fruity with sourdough bread, red wine vinegar, acetic acid, sour cherris, passionfruit moist hay, leather and hints of barnyard. The slightly acetic character brings this down...
