Sour, barrel-aged version of the beer by the same name. Brewed in collaboration with Maui brewing.

Yes, Michigan and Hawaii are connected. It should be obvious to you now, as you hold this beer, and read this label. John and I designed this beer with two noble fruits from two noble states, Michigan & Hawaii. Cherries and liliko’i. Starting to see the connection? I feel it. So does John. 4391 miles may separate our breweries, but no our thirst for the exquisite. Hipa! -Ron

Working with Ron is something I’ve always want to do since I had my first Jolly Pumpkin beer. Years later, it’s a reality. Being involved on this project was an honor and a privilege. Mahalo to my MBC crew and to you, fans of craft beer! -John

750 ml bottle served in a Duvel green tulip. Blend # 5, bottled on 5-09-2012. A: Pours a burnt orange color with a yellowish head forming the pour. It has some nice body to it as it recedes to a thick cap and collar. Nice sheets of lace are left down the sides of the glass. S: Some light cherry tartness with some yeasty sweetness to it. Sweet fruit juice is also present in the nose. Definitely missing some lacto sourness in the nose. A touch of oak is present on the nose as well. T: Sweet fruit juice, maybe some blueberry and cherry, with a very subtle tart note. Some light lemon grass with a odd celery note to it. Oak tannins with some vanilla sweetness on the finish with a pale malt body. M: Medium to light bodied with a prickly carbonation level. Clean, semi-drying finish. O: This was entirely disappointing. The beer itself wasn’t bad, but it’s very poor representation of the style. No biting sourness and very little tartness in the taste as well. Not worth the price. From notes. Tasted some time near the summer of 2012 from a capped 750mL bottle obtained in a trade. Pours hazy burnt orange with a thin white head that leaves thin, sticky lace. The nose is signature JP funk with orange pith, a lightly acetic white wine vinegar note, spicy hibiscus, and just a touch of vanilla oak. The flavor is nicely sour with tons of lemon, orange, white peppercorn, hibiscus, funk, and light touch of oak. The body is medium with some tannin, average carbonation, and a long sour and spicy peppercorn and hibiscus finish.

Des éclaboussures juteuses permanentes enrobées par la colonie fongueuse minérale et rustique de Jolly Pumpkin. Facile à boire, pas très complexe mais plaisant.

Outstanding sour, lots of cherry throughout. Body is thin and very translucent. Lots of cherry in the nose and though the palate. The tart and funkiness starts at the beginning of the palate and continues all the way through to the finish.

My 100th sour/ wild rating. Yeah! Poured side BH side with the Maui version. This one was the better by far. Pours a clear, dark red brown with a beige head of foam thay fizzes out quickly. The aroma is dark cherry notes with juicy acidity. Mouthwatering. The taste is fruity and funky with a mediumevel of acidity. Medium body and medium carbonation. Delicious beer!

Bottle from Corvallis Brew Supply, Corvallis. Pours a slightly cloudy orange-amber, lots of head. Aroma full of oaky notes and cherry, very crisp despite its age. Body lively and arch, full yet light, with a residual effervescence. Finish tart, juicy, with just a hint of spice and yeast, really nice.

"As expected, liked this significantly better than the complex, but somewhat boring, Maui version. Of course, it cost far more as well. The acidic aroma and fairly strong sour aspects of this beer really accentuated the cherries and passion fruit in a way the Maui version did not. Pleasantly sour and tasty."

750 ml bottle shared with drsordr. Pours a hazy amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma has tart/sour fruit, citrus and a touch of funk. The flavor has an opening burst of tart/sour citrus and fruit, acidic, falls off quickly, mid-palate some cherry and additional fruit comes back, light funk.
