Sour, barrel-aged version of the beer by the same name. Brewed in collaboration with Maui brewing.

Yes, Michigan and Hawaii are connected. It should be obvious to you now, as you hold this beer, and read this label. John and I designed this beer with two noble fruits from two noble states, Michigan & Hawaii. Cherries and liliko’i. Starting to see the connection? I feel it. So does John. 4391 miles may separate our breweries, but no our thirst for the exquisite. Hipa! -Ron

Working with Ron is something I’ve always want to do since I had my first Jolly Pumpkin beer. Years later, it’s a reality. Being involved on this project was an honor and a privilege. Mahalo to my MBC crew and to you, fans of craft beer! -John

750 ml bottle served in a Duvel green tulip. Blend # 5, bottled on 5-09-2012. A: Pours a burnt orange color with a yellowish head forming the pour. It has some nice body to it as it recedes to a thick cap and collar. Nice sheets of lace are left down the sides of the glass. S: Some light cherry tartness with some yeasty sweetness to it. Sweet fruit juice is also present in the nose. Definitely missing some lacto sourness in the nose. A touch of oak is present on the nose as well. T: Sweet fruit juice, maybe some blueberry and cherry, with a very subtle tart note. Some light lemon grass with a odd celery note to it. Oak tannins with some vanilla sweetness on the finish with a pale malt body. M: Medium to light bodied with a prickly carbonation level. Clean, semi-drying finish. O: This was entirely disappointing. The beer itself wasn’t bad, but it’s very poor representation of the style. No biting sourness and very little tartness in the taste as well. Not worth the price. Bottle bough @ Bierkompass.de. Pours murky yellowish red with a frothy pinkish offwhite head that leaves lots of spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity and funky with sourdough bread, ripe passionfruit, moist hay, sour cherries, barnyard, unflavored yoghurt, moist wood, leather and hints of red wine vinegar. Taste is sour, fruity and slightly funky with sourdough bread, red wine vinegar, sour cherries, passionfruit, cereal, leather, sour milk, moist hay, barnyard, cherry skins and hints of acetic acid. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, tiny mouth-puckering and medium bodied. Finish is sour and fruity with sourdough bread, red wine vinegar, acetic acid, sour cherris, passionfruit moist hay, leather and hints of barnyard. The slightly acetic character brings this down...

Pours out a lightly reddish golden color with not much of an off white head. Aroma is of lots of brett, some lightly medicinal characteristics, plastic, band aid and light funk. Some sweet fruity notes, plastic and some oak. Taste is complex, funky brett with notes of band aid, plastic, medicinal notes and leather. Some tart/sweet fruity notes that linger around with the brett and bring some sweetness to some otherwise tart sour notes. Finishes sour with some light notes of sweetness and mild vinegary/funky/woodsy brett. Solid, but the palate was a bit lighter than I would have liked.

Bottle - 2012. Pours clear amber with a small lasting off-white head. Aroma is tart fruit, passion fruit, tropical fruits, caramel, funk, acetone, lactic - mild yoghurt and oak. Taste is light+ sweet, light bitter and tart. Body is near medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Finishes tart and mineral. Great drinkability.
