Weizen Bam seamlessly blends traditional German style hefeweizen yeast with our own local wild and sour cultures, for a melange of the most flavorful sort, the barrel aged with Hibiscus flowers to add a twist.

The waiter called this Hib-Majesty, so I may need to come back and move this to a new beer later, but this seems a likely alternative name. Hazy, reddish-pink color. Really attractive. More fruit than floral in the aroma. Very mild flavor, almost like raspberries. Short finish. Very pleasant, but too mild for me.

On tap: The aroma consits hibiscus, mustiness, light lemon, and citrus. It’s a cloudy orangish-pink with a thin white ring for a head. The flavor is very similar to regular Weizen Bam, only slightly more tart with a stronger floral/hibiscus character in the finish. This was the first beer I had at MBGSF and my favorite of the festival.

Draft sample at MBGF Summer09. Poured cloudy pink color with a minimal frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy floral and fruity citrus aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sour flavor with a medium sour finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met with another complex beer.

MiBG Summer Fest 2009, Friday session: Peachy pink hue with some head. The aroma is a WOW, very floral nose of Hibiscus and wheat husk with a hint of cherry petals and rye grass. The taste is slightly tart and flowery, earthy and dusty pale malts as well with a touch of wheat. The mouth feel is soft and chewy. Different for sure yet neato, would love to try a full snifter of this one day.

Sampled at ’09 MBG Summerfest. Opaque pink pour with almost no head, just some big, loose bubbles. The aroma had notes of melon, rose petals, grass, and wheat. The flavor was watermelon, honeydew, rose, and grass with a dry tart finish. The body was very dry yet aqueous with moderate carbonation.

On tap at MBGSF 09. Poured a cloudy pink color. Aroma is sweet with a touch of citrus. Taste is light and sweet, with a surprising hibiscus character and fruity notes which reminded me of strawberries. There was a bit of refreshing tartness throughout. This was more of a fruit beer, or should I say "flower beer". I kind of feel guilty for liking this so much, but man I want some more.

MBGSF 09. Pours a cloudy, sedimenty grapefruit juice with a small white head. Aroma is very tart and lightly fruity with some cherrys and citrus. Flavor is biscuity and some sour notes with a light fruity essence.

On tap at MBGSF09. Slightly grapefruit juice color with small white ehad. Aroma is sweet hibiscus and citrusy, nice. Flavor is slightly citrus and grainy, sweeter. Medium to light body and well carbonated. Nice but not as good as regular weizen bam, it defintely gives me inspiration to use hibiscus in a beer though.
