The fourth in our Bam Farmhouse series, and perhaps our most adventurous; a traditional farmhouse style hefeweizen. Weizen Bam seamlessly blends traditional German style hefeweizen yeast with our own local wild and sour cultures, for a melange of the most flavorful sort. Ruddy golden, with yeast driven esters of banana, spicy clove, and nutmeg all wrapped up with a generous dose of good-natured rapscallion delight.

Lambic style nose, lemon, sour wheat, funk, Cloudy golden color with tiny white lacing. Taste is refreshing and tart, lemon, earthy, good carbonation, funk. Finishes with a good dry sourness then some earthy wood flavors. Top shelf stuff.

Pours a very pale straw color with a very big fluffy white head.

The aroma does retain some of the Hefe-Weizen banana and spice character, but it’s pretty muted by the lemony & earthy/barn-yardy funkiness. There is some yeasty bread dough to it as well. It’s a very fun & inviting bouquet as far as I"m concerned.

The flavor is bright & lemony with some nice earthy hoppiness. The beer has some citrus rind, banana & some spiciness, but a lot of the flavor that the Hefe-Weizen yeast imparts is really pretty muted. It’s tart, it’s dry.... it definitely crosses the line into Sour Ale stylistically as it’s far more a sour than a Hefe-Weizen. It’s really a nice beer from Jolly Pumpkin, very balanced, very complex, well aged.

The palate is very lively, prickly, & delightful.

This exceeds all expectations of the beer, I had expected a sort of banana on oak awkwardness, but this is really something.

Small slightly fizzy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry and fresh fruity, hay, dried fruits, oak, citrus peel, yeast, hints of chalk. Taste is dry sour-ish, sorrel, oak, hay, citrus peel, yeast, citrus, chalk, grass, hints of minerals. Medium bitterness, kind of a watery mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Bottled 07-30-2012: Light yellow color, slightly hazy, with a quickly diminishing fizzy white head. Aroma is citrusy and grassy and a little funky. Flavor has strong tart citrus and cherry, a bit spicy, and finishes clean with little lingering aftertaste. Good overall.

Rated on 5-15-2010 - Bottle and Batch 399/400. This beer pours a medium sized fizzy white head that mostly diminishes, hazy golden body, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is yeasty, funky, sweet, banana, and spicy. The taste is sweet, banana, spicy, and has a short dry finish. The palate is moderate carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer has a nice balance between the aromas and the flavors, but I am not a fan of Farmhouse beers.

In short: a sparkling wild ale.
Pours hazy bright gold, with little vanishing white head, good lacing. Tart, grapy aromas. Light body, high carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is quite tart, fruity, malty, some off flavours.

Smells of Belgian yeast, citrus, grassy and a bit earthy. Very light and almost watery mouthfeel. Very slight tartness, but not very noticeable. Mainly a saison that is earthy and grassy and not quite full flavored enough to be great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear golden yellow. Highly carbonated. Head dissipates quickly. Wheat and yeast on the nose. Some sourness is evident also. Smells clean and crisp. Flavor is slightly sour and really nice. Great beer.

Unique and definitely more sour than Weizen. The aroma was sour and wheat with some citrus. It looked like a clear hefeweizen with a white head. Light and puckering mouthfeel, somewhat watery. Decent carbonation. Sour hits you first followed by wheat, lemon and yeast. It was OK, just not outstanding.
