COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The fourth in our Bam Farmhouse series, and perhaps our most adventurous; a traditional farmhouse style hefeweizen. Weizen Bam seamlessly blends traditional German style hefeweizen yeast with our own local wild and sour cultures, for a melange of the most flavorful sort. Ruddy golden, with yeast driven esters of banana, spicy clove, and nutmeg all wrapped up with a generous dose of good-natured rapscallion delight.

On cask at Rattle Ní Hum NYC. very cloudy straw/yellow gold body, no head. Aroma is brett, sour wheat malt, and bubblegum. Flavor is tart and sour yet smooth and slick mouthfeel. Low carbonation (cask) and a bit of funk, much like a wheaty saison/sour and then a slightly bitter finish like grapefruit juice.

Bottle @ DVMBBT: Hazy yellow colored beer with a small white head on top. Aromas of grapes, wild yeast, wheat, light vinous, very nice. Flavours of grapes, wild yeast, some berries, some tartness, great crispy stuff! Aftertaste is a mix of grapes, wild yeast, crispy... Low carbo, medium mouthfeel, medium bodied and a creamy texture. I like this a lot!

Bottle @ Van Moll Tasting shared by Abijen. Hazy pale yellow color, virtually no head. Donít get a lot of aroma. Taste lightly malts, lightly sourish, fruity, lemon, citrus. A bit low bodied, low to average carbonation. A bit flat but I still like it.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/6/2013. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy golden straw color with a 2-3 finger foamy and fluffy white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon zest, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, herbal, floral, grass, straw, wheat, cracker, bread, light funk, and yeast/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and moderate malt notes; with great strength. Taste of lemon zest, banana, pear, apple, clove, pepper, wheat, cracker, bread, straw, grass, herbal, floral, light funk, and yeast/grassy earthiness. Good amount of crisp earthy yeast spiciness and slight tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, banana, pear, apple, clove, pepper, straw, grass, herbal, floral, wheat, cracker, light funk, and yeast/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and moderate malt flavors; with a very nice and crisp malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately prickly/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is an excellent saison. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

CanIHave4Beers (2908) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - MAR 13, 2014
Pours a very pale straw color with a very big fluffy white head.

The aroma does retain some of the Hefe-Weizen banana and spice character, but itís pretty muted by the lemony & earthy/barn-yardy funkiness. There is some yeasty bread dough to it as well. Itís a very fun & inviting bouquet as far as I"m concerned.

The flavor is bright & lemony with some nice earthy hoppiness. The beer has some citrus rind, banana & some spiciness, but a lot of the flavor that the Hefe-Weizen yeast imparts is really pretty muted. Itís tart, itís dry.... it definitely crosses the line into Sour Ale stylistically as itís far more a sour than a Hefe-Weizen. Itís really a nice beer from Jolly Pumpkin, very balanced, very complex, well aged.

The palate is very lively, prickly, & delightful.

This exceeds all expectations of the beer, I had expected a sort of banana on oak awkwardness, but this is really something.

Inbreak (1533) - Loddefjord, NORWAY - MAR 11, 2014
11.03.2014, 0,75l bottle @ home:
Small slightly fizzy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry and fresh fruity, hay, dried fruits, oak, citrus peel, yeast, hints of chalk. Taste is dry sour-ish, sorrel, oak, hay, citrus peel, yeast, citrus, chalk, grass, hints of minerals. Medium bitterness, kind of a watery mouthfeel. Fair enough.
