COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The fourth in our Bam Farmhouse series, and perhaps our most adventurous; a traditional farmhouse style hefeweizen. Weizen Bam seamlessly blends traditional German style hefeweizen yeast with our own local wild and sour cultures, for a melange of the most flavorful sort. Ruddy golden, with yeast driven esters of banana, spicy clove, and nutmeg all wrapped up with a generous dose of good-natured rapscallion delight.

Interesting sour with the banana and clove hefeweizen notes complementing tart lemon.

En l som er for syrlig og bitter. Det er akkurat som om det er presset en sitron oppi.

750ml bottle. No date. Appearance: pale yellow and mostly clear, with thick bubbled white foam cap. Aroma: Lacto sour aroma dominates. German weizen yeast is barely noticeable. Was expecting more. Taste: A light sour apple flavor is prominent, with the lactic acidity front and center. Again, no noticeable banana esters or clove phenols Id expect from something with weizen yeast. Mouthfeel: Light body and a crisp carbonation. Finish: tart acidity from the lacto lingers on the tongue well after the swallow. A faint hint of light maltiness as well. Overall: I was intrigued by the combination of German weizen yeast and sour cultures to try this beer. The thought of those wonderful weizen esters and aromas with some acidity seemed like a great combo....but I honestly get none of it. The lacto dominates in the absence of any semblance of weizen yeast character. The beer is still very crisp, tart, and drinkable, but I feel like Im drinking a slightly subdued Berliner Weisse

Tap @ Jolly Pumpkin: Soft, golden color with amber towards the center. Hazy throughout, topped with a bright white, cotton-like head. Aroma has a nice mix of yeasty, hefe-like indicators & funky, saison-like zest. Banana, citrus zest, pear skins, soft wheat, mild horsey funk, old cork, faint lemon-lime, & a hint of earthiness. Like a mildly funky, ever-so-slightly tart hefeweizen. Flavor is an amplified version of the aroma. Lots more fruit... Pear, white grape, green apple, citrus zest, even a small hint of cherries. Soft graininess & a big blanket of wheat. Very small tartness spike alongside a nice handful of funky cork & wet hay. Back-end is yeast heavy, showing the "hefe" side of things more clearly. Finishes with notes of banana bread & clove, as well as a small hint of drying oak. Mouth feel is like a saison (thin, crisp, dry) rather than a hefe (creamy, chunky). Interesting take on a style of uncharted territory. I really like this beer.

Vive Jolly Pumpkin! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smooth and slightly sour. No deepness, fresh wheat aroma, lots of carbonation. Nothing special, not a great brew. No typical Weizen-aroma, only a bit sour, nearly no tartness. Very disappointing... 4/10/3/4

A very sour finish on this. Not quite as well balanced as the other bams. Pours cloudy yellow with good head and lacing. Sour citrus. Tap at Sancho pistolas

Pours slightly hazy yellow, white head. Aroma is tart lemon funk, faint oyster, apple, wheat, yeast. Flavor is tart and dry, some clove & wheat. Overall nice beer, like a soured heffe better than the original style.
