COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Five beer enthusiasts with a common passion for historic brewing came together to create this distinct Polish beer style in the most authentic way we can think of after the brewery in Grodzisk Wielkopolski closed in 1993. It is brewed by Jopen and Monarchy of Musselland together with the beer writers Ron Pattinson and Evan Rail. We use 100% oak-smoked wheat malt, have the exact same gravity of 7.7 degrees Plato, employed classic Lublin hops and fermented with the original yeast. As the town once and again today belongs to Poland, but in the meantime was part of Prussia, there are two different names for the style: Grodziskie and Grätzer. Our research found that brewers also formerly used willow bark in brewing which we thought was an interesting variation. That is why we are offering two different takes on the style: a classic version bearing the name "Grätzer"and a willow bark version called "Grodziskie".

Very intersting new beer, as close to the original style as possible. Easy going beer with a great taste, luckily low in alcohol. Breadish, soft, not too smoky, balanced. I really enjoyed this. Not easy to distinguish from the Grodziskie (samerecipe with willow-bark added) however.

Bottle at Bruce’s, London. Thanks for another rare style from Paul. Pours hazy gold with a fine, frothy white head. Dry smoke in the nose, some dry dough and hay. Light sweet flavor, pretty dry, mild straw bitterness, light smokey meat, mellow bitterness. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Dry finish, lightly smokey, some meat, hay. Interesting beer. Pretty drinkable.

Bottle. Pours hazy pale straw with small white head. Sourish, yeasty and grainy aroma. Bitter, hoppy onset, sourish body, paperlike finish. Watery mouthfeel. Dry finish. My first grodziskie (the very first bottle I tasted when I was six years old doesn’t really count).

Grzesiek79 (2350) - Radom, POLAND - APR 18, 2013
Maslany i przede wszystkim wedzony aromat, serowy posmak. Jakby sfermentowany kefir, troche kwaskowate ale za razem delikatne w calosciowej mojej ocenie. Piana utrzymuje sie do konca degustacji, kolor bliski belgijskim bialym piwom. Ciekawie odwzorowany stary i zapomniany gatunek piwa Grodziskiego przez holendrow.

Bottle. pale blonde, hazy. Smoked sausage and a hint of citrus in the aroma. Smoked tarry woody bitter flavor. Salty notes, citrus. Extreme flavors in this rather thin beer.

Hazy white colour, firm white head. Aroma of smoke, raw tobacco and cotton. Smoky flavour, ash and tobacco. Smoky finish.
Positivity point for reviving an old beer style.
(from 33cL bottle @ benzai. Thanks for sharing, joes!)

Sampled from bottle thanks to Joes. Opaque pale yellow color, small white head. Smell and taste are again, like the Grodziskie, tobacco-like and lightly bitter. Absolutely weird.
