3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 badgerben (4116) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - NOV 2, 2004
Pours a gold color with a foamy head. Oddly metalic and citrus nose with a bit of breadness as well. The taste is quite strange, not like the other gruits I’ve had. A little blueberry and corriander, I thought. Not bad, but certainly strange.

Floral hops are overwhelmed by huge butterscoth diacetyl aroma. Opaque copper coloured with thin, white fully diminishing head. Very short, sweet caramel flavour. Watery body with an oily texture and high gassy carbonation. Will need to resample as this can’t be right - then again, at least one of us enjoyed it somewhat. Bottle - a disappointing butter-bomb sampled with MartinT and Rastacouere at Spuyten Duyvil (Brooklyn, New York).

Monstrous diacetyl punch covering a flat, white grapey, mead-like sweetness...Spices roam aloof in this sedentary texture but don’t quite know where to settle...After having loved their Koyt, I’m led to believe that I need to resample this under different conditions...
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Rastacouere (5923) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 12, 2004
Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil. Cloudy amber, nice color. Low off-white head. Aroma of spices mostly, coriander, sage, baked cookies, flour. Appears mostly sweet and grainy overall, a malt/yeast performance. On the tongue, spices become more overwhelming and develop into a shocking acidity. ROsemary and thyme nuances observable. It’s not blended too well and the flavor feels very short. Astringent and thin. Lively carbonation, thin (soda mouthfeel).
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 obisbeer (558) - Barcelona, SPAIN - OCT 11, 2004
Milky orange with fine white head. Yeast, wheat, and iced tea like aromas. Light body with a refreshing citrus finish. Vanilla, citrus, grass, light spice and faint banana flavors. Very different, though some what like a belgian wit.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Syd (920) - Waconia, Minnesota, USA - OCT 1, 2004
Small bottle pours a very hazy dull orange color with a small head that disipated quickly. The aroma is spicy and slightly sour. The flavor is somewhat wheaty, a touch quenching, with a real fizzy palate. Overall, this one is real marginal.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pigfoot (2267) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 26, 2004
hazy, golden color, big, elegent, though quick to fade head.
Aroma is deliciousness, indeed: spicy, airy, with light citric fruit, and a big helping of yeast, slightly musty and tart.
Great blitz of citric hops right off the bat, big carbonation, spritzy as they get. Nice taste, but the effervescence overcomes the flavor. Body is on the light side, texture is minimal..lemony flavor kicks in a bit more toward the end.
Tasty little beer. "Real Dutch Gruit Witbier" boasts the label. Tastes like one, too, smooth, tasty, ultimately very drinkable.
But...probably not worth the $4.59 I paid for this 12 oz. bottle.
don’t let me stop you, though...

orangish, cloudy, white head, disappears fast, citrus aroma, flavor is light herbal, light spice, not that impressive, watery
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Eyedrinkale (3214) - Astoria, New York, USA - AUG 16, 2004
UPDATED: JUN 27, 2005 Poured cloudy gold with smallish sized head. Aroma was a bit fruitty with faint hints of malt. Taste was a bit sour with some spice and coriander. Spicy and lemony with a lively mouthfeel.
