Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Jan 9, 2008 Pours an orangish-golden color with a white head. Aroma is of dark fruits, caramel malts, and floral and citrus hops. Flavor is the same. Not too bad but nothing that great. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Dec 31, 2007 Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits and shared by joebrew and brewfiend. Pours a hazy golden pale brew with a thick white head that has some good retention and lacing. Aroma of complex spiced bready malt, some orange peel, yeast, lemon zest, white pepper and honey. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with a smooth multi-grain malt with wheat, sweet coriander and orange peel and plenty of yeast in the background. Finish is slightly dry and spicy with a dry orange and yeast aftertaste. Quite an interesting witbier. faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Dec 24, 2007 Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow colour with a medium well lasting white head leaving a good lacing. Aroma has some sweetness with yeast, coriander, some lemon and some kind of parfume. Rather thin mouthfeel. The flavour has yeast, and coriander with some lemon, bit of sweetness, herbs and soap. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Dec 13, 2007 Pours gold and cloudy (very yeasty looking) with some sparse white foam on top. Aroma is dominated by lots of spice, (coriander, perfume, some lavender elements), hints of sweet malt and slightly sugary. Taste incorporates a nice wheat like backbone with spice and some hints of citrus thrown in. Mouthfeel is thick and viscous. Finish yields some hints of pepper. Very sessionable. I’m surprised by the low scores. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Dec 12, 2007 Bottle. Sweet and spicy nose, floral and heathery (heatherine?) with a touch of lemon cleaner and something nearing coriander. Orange peel, white pepper, and honey. Sedimenty orange-golden body with an aggressively-diminished head. Taste is floral and slightly earthy with pale malts at the fore. Thin, watery body, wittish feel nears oily consistency. Wheat notes are refreshing, but the beer is not. No bitterness or sourness. Reminds of one’s first foray with herbal tea. I have had gruits before and rather liked some of them; this isn’t the shining exemplar of the traditional ales movement. On the whole, a bit of a throwaway, or perhaps enjoyed as a nice changeup from your everyday wit. TaxiDriver (910), Stadland, Germany Nov 29, 2007 Bottle. Very spicy, moderate yeasty - really something special! Fizzy average white head; yellow orange body. Started bitter, ended moderate sweet, short duration. Light to medium body, fizzy carbonation, light dry texture. Very special one... but after a few minutes you get used to it! greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Nov 23, 2007 Bottle. Where do I begin with this beer. I am definitely not a fan of "gruit", so I will try to be non-bias on this rating. Pours straw colored with no head. Aroma is fruity and very herbal. Flavor is similiar, but it also tastes like a bar of soap. In addition, there is some floral hints in the taste along with lemon and spices. Interesting style, just not one of my favorites. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 14, 2007 Bottle. A golden beer with a big white head. MAlty and perfumed aroma and taste, soapy. Medium body with a soapy finish.
