Optigon (494), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Mar 1, 2007 Pours gold/orange with a thin head. Aroma is somewhat acidy, has what I call a cork-quality akin to Lindeman’s Lambic beers. Very wet mouth feel, some what thinnish there. Very refreshing taste, somewhat orange-like. A little musty in a strange way. Good beer!
gam (350), brisbane, Australia May 11, 2008 Thin head on orange pour, coverage is almost nil, beer is supported by good carbonation.Aroma, orange ,clove, lemon.Flavour coriander, orange, clove, figs and melon, good body like a Bardot or is that Bordeax.Finish is fruity spicey, dry. shigadeyo (1316), Southwest Ohio Area, Ohio, USA May 2, 2008 5/02/2008: Adriaan "Real Dutch Gruit Witbier" has a hazy golden yellow color with a fizzy head that disappears almost immediately after the pour. The aroma is both sweet yet a bit acidic which reminds me of apples and vinegar. This beer has a really strange flavor - sour and burnt mixed with honey, various fruits (lemon for sure, even a touch of fig) and light spice, then acidic and vinegar-like followed by some oxidation. The finish has a yeasty profile as well as some toasted wheat malt and finally some apple cider. There really isn’t any bittereness to note. This beer has a pretty light body very little carbonation. The flavor is definitely interesting and is a little bit of a put off at first but then it actually grows and becomes acceptable if not even likeable (the sour and burnt wears off quickly).
12 fl. oz. bottle (5% Alc/Vol) from Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #181 for this beer...
nick76 (1810), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 28, 2008 The aroma is sour like vinegar with honey, rotting fruit, and herbs/spices. The appearance is orange gold with little carbonation. The flavor is like the aroma and very acrid and sour. The palate is watery and oily. Yuck! This has to be one of the worst beers (excluding malt liquor) I have had in awhile and that’s saying a lot. BelJohansen (1751), Copenhagen V, Denmark Apr 17, 2008 Pale yeallow with tiny white head. Sweet and somewhat perfurmed aroma with yeasty and orange peel notes. Sweet yeasty flavor with coriander, orange peel and wheaty notes. Brewer101 (127), New Jersey, USA Apr 9, 2008 this is an interesting ale. Definitely not what i was expecting. It is slightly fruity, with a very smooth ride down the throat. it was easy to drink and enjoyable. It had a nice appearance, but little head on the pour. A beer worth trying.
