Bottle from Biernavigatie. Poured a clear dark brown with a bubbly light tan head. The aroma is ripe fruit, boozy alcohol and light yeast. The flavour is strong bitter, light sweet with a rich alcoholic bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The alcohol isnt well hidden at all and alcoholic bitterness can be the worst. The aroma and the palate were fine, but the aftertaste was not the best and it lingered forever.

Bottle at home, 330 ml, poured into a big snifter. ABV 10.5% The beer has a very deep brown colour on the body, with nice red ruby shades when hold against the light. Something more than a finger of tan head, with good density and average retention, leaving a nice wall of lacing around the glass. Aroma is quite hoppy, with orange peel upfront, milky chocolate when it starts to warm up, light alcohol, notes of dark fruits. Great taste, at first caramel, light alcohol, dark fruits and then the hops are following, with light citrus, orange peel. Very thick and full body, silky on the palate, very good carbonation, exactly on the right levels. Overall this was a great beer, one of the best Jopen I’ve had actually, the owners of that shop should be very proud of having this specially made for them.

Tried this in the original Gollem in Amsterdam at the weekend. Both sweet and spicey notes on the nose. Dark beer with slight red tints and a thin but persistent head. Sweet slightly raisiney start finishes with a subtle astringency. A newish brew by Jopen as part of a collaboration. Very impressive, hope there is more to come from this collacoration.

Bottle. Dark nearly black colour with small head. Pours a bit sticky. As i opend the bottle i smelled asian aromas like soy sauce and sesame oil and was quite surprised. It starts quite sweetish with malty tones. Exotic fruits in the body. Really nice. This would match perfectly an asian dish. Caramel, fruit, kind of spicy tones. Really well balanced.

Excellent barleywine. Thick and sweet. Lots of alcohol, caramel, and toffee. Medium bodied with little to no head.
