33 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a deep amber glare and a small tan head. Aroma is smooth dark malty and roasted caramelish. Smooth liqourice and dark malty flavoured. Light alcohol presence. Smooth malty and dense caramelish into the finish. Light phenolic note from back of the nose. Ends smooth dark malty and distinct bitter to counterbalance the sweetness.

On tap, pours a opaque, mahogany brown with a lacing, white head. Nice, sweet aroma, caramel, raisins, coconut, dried fruit, light citrus. Flavor is sweet, brown sugar, raisins, rum, cane sugar, orange peel, light pine. Full bodied, lightly bitter finish.

Been awhile since I rated this. Do remember I liked it very much though. Reallt nice dark color, might be my perfect color though you never know what you run into. Taste is fine, remember good carbonation for a 10.5ABV beer. Strong, but nice one to finish the evening.

After the beer was served in the glass there was found a lasting quantity wall adhesive light brown foam collar which was fine and even of structure. The beer also contained much carbonic acid in the glass.
The beer has a thick dark brown color and a sweet taste. The after tast of the beer is hoppy bitter with a roasted malty touch . This beer smells to caramelly.

6th February 2011 On tap at the ’ t Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Opaque dark brown - black beer. Good cream coloured head. Light palate, a little dry. Creamy dark malt, slightly salty licorice. Some sweet cherry and red fruit underneath. Trace of dark chocolate. Bitter hop fruit with a trace of bubblegum. Delicious!

Clear medium red amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, bread, roasted, caramel, light to moderate hoppy, citrus notes, light dried berries. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, alcohol warm finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100925]

Nice thick barley wine with heavy roasted malts and caramel, some ash, sugars and a hint of grains. Very solid head. Thick bodied and well balanced. This barrevoet series is good, bring it on Jopen.
