3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draft at brewpub. Hazy golden colored. Malty and grainy nose. Malty flavor, some hops, bread. Some hops in finish. Not very complex but extremely refreshing and drinkable. A beer you could drink all evening. To bad balance and drinkability are appreciated by so few here on Ratebeer.

Draft @ De Gollem. Dark amber, solid creamy off-white head. Smell is sweet red fruits, sticky sweet malts, dash of candy & iron. Tasted is pureed strawberry & other red fruits, sweet grains, sugar, candy, faint iron & light faint bitter grass in the end. Very light & very easy to drink. Pretty nice, I am a bit confused by the low scores here to be honest.

I will freely admit that reading Dutch and hearing the Dutch speak are two very different things for me. This beer on the other hand, is everything that I expected and enjoy. As Rob told me after, this top fermented ale is disguised as a lager thru the unfiltery-ness.It was on the chalkboard as an "unfiltered pilsener. And I do love me some pils. It fooled me, and I don’t care. I could drink this all day in various weather conditions. (It was raining hard at the time) Imagine that, rain in December in Amsterdam... Mellow smooth with just a hint of butterscotch in second half. hazy as expected. Head lasted to finish. Thus began my love affair with Jopen.
