Black with light brown foam head, lasting and lacing. Hoppy aroma, nice bitter taste. Long aftertaste. (Velp 201304) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Long neck brown bottle, 330 ml, at home. Poured into a tulip glass. ABV on my bottle 6% Pours a black beer with a nice soapy, two finger tall and biege in colour head. Good retention and beautiful lacing left around the glass. Aroma of sweet caramel, malts, red grapes. Strong bitter taste, light citrus flavour, grapefruit-like, with roasted malts character and coffee, mostly notable on the aftertaste. Medium to full body, average levels of carbonation. Very dry on the palate. Great beer that happens also to be my first black IPA. With 70 IBU was a bit of a shock for me at first, but what a nice shock.

300313. Bottle at home. Pours black with a nice white head. Aroma nuts, dry hops. Has the typical black IPA elements and yet strange somehow. Medium dry palate. Not Bad.

I am liking this beer a lot. Great aroma and a beautiful white head. Bitter taste and a bitter finish but with some flowery, even slightly sour bits. Me likey! Bottle from De Bierkoning.

Dark brown almost black with a red tint and a thick, lasting, lightly clinging lace, beige head. Smells of citrus hops - grapefruit but in a soft not intrusive way, caramel, dark malt, red fruit and liquorish. Full thin dry body with faint natural carbonation. Tastes of liquorish, dark malt that moves into a hoppy, bitter grassy citrus and ashy very dry finish that has some lingering burnt caramel. The burnt and citrus with the sweet caramel gives this a well roundedness not found in many Black IPAs. I feel it needs a bit more roast in the finish. I drank it with great enjoyment and could easily drink more.

Bottle at home. Dark brown to black pour, thin creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, bready yeast, some ash, burnt malts, old hops, plants. Flavor is roasted bitter with a very dry old hop bitterness in the finish. Quite out of balance.

2012 - 02 - 12 330ml bottle. dark brown, almost black colour. medium, lasting, tan head. roasty aroma, medium bitter taste.

33cl. Bottle. Poors clear almost black red brown with tan head. Aroma coffee, choco, caramel, citrus, some fruits, roasted malts. Taste awesome coffee bitter, some sweets, long bitter finish. Mouth-feel thin. Wow this is a really great beer. Taste and aroma are well balanced.

smaken: metalig, pittig moutig, behoorlijk bitter, resterende smaken zijn beperkt , pompoen?, fruit, koffie, geroosterde mouten, hoppig.
licht zoet, zwaar bitter, zeer sterk, medium body, glad, met bitter lange afdronk.
over het algemeen veel te overheersende bitterheid, geroosterde mouten. niet echt fijn op elkaar afgestemd.

Very dark brown colour with a lasting tan head. Aroma is hop and toffee. Aroma comes back in the taste. It’s rahter bitter and medium dry. Body is medium and carbonation medium to high.
