3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
33 cl. bottle sampled @ Gollem // apparently Hoppenbier is a nearly extinct style like the Belgian Stout // pours clear golden with a small solid white head // smell awesome, rich with honey, very fruity hops, flowers, sweet round with soft white bread and white sugar // taste is kind of a downer and doesn’t live up to the aroma // weird mellow alternative to the smell, flowers, yeast, white bread, white sugar, honey, synthetic, drowned out quickly by grains, bitter floral, herbal // tad too light body, standard carb. // smell is great but taste is after all for me a bigger part of the beer than the smell

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
smells a bit hoppy, tastes like it would want to be an IPA? but it just isnt able to.. OK, maybe thats rude, this is a cheap one, and price VS quality, this is a good brewerie. also, this is a style, i’ve been told? so i shouldnt compare it to an IPA either way.. but thats the best way for me to describe the taste . shared @ gollem along with 77 ships and dennoman

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

It poured a hazy golden liquid with lots of particles floating around. Yeast and fruits on the nose, also some apples. Sweet and yeasty taste with some light malts, fruits, flowers, hops and a fairly sharp bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle by 17/08/12. Mini-gush, huge dry dank hops with straw and paper, lots of thick caramel, some light yeast, very inviting! Hazy golden with lots of carb and a soapy white head. Taste is lightly sweet caramel and yeast, hops coming back down into balance, a little alcohol showing bu that’s fleeting. Light peach and lemon. Medium body. Finds a good middle ground between complexity and chuggability, really nice and moreish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A hazy golden color with a single finger of head. It noses yeast and citrus hop, predominantly. The latter is mix of orange, grapefruit, peach and mellow. I like the aroma. The taste comes in two parts: the first one is fruity respecting the aroma described above and then it turns out to the bitter flavor. This bitterness seems to never end up and it goes until you burp. Yes, carbonation is medium-high, as belgians. At the end I could say I liked it. The aroma is quite well and the peachy flavor followed by the bitterness got me satisfied in this case. Probably my only complain would be a better balance. It’s crisp, but the transition between flavors are abissal and sharp.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Clear gold with plenty of carbonation and a slight white head. Sweetish stone fruits, honeyed malts and a moderately bitter finish. A bit underpowered.
