COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Until the end of 2008 brewed by Huyghe. Until 2006 brewed by Van Steenberge. Jopen Hoppenbier is a double hopped three grains beer. This blond beer contains 6.8% alcohol and is replicated from the city recipe of 1501. Jopen Hoppenbier is a refreshing beer with a light malty start and a long bitter aftertaste. It has been brewed since 1994 from barleymalt, (unmalted) oats, wheatmalt and Saaz and Brewers Gold hops.

(Bottled) Hazy orange color with a medium, frothy-bubbly-lemonadey head. Lemony-fruity, dishwashing-liquidy aroma with lots of orange-peel and some peppery spiciness. Sour and acidic, lemon-apple-orangey flavor with yeast and some hops. Long, lemony-orangey-acidic aftertaste. Dryish and acidic, medium-bodied palate with a bit fizzy carbonation. A different beer, something like a sparkling, dry and acidic white wine. Not exactly for me, though.

nice aroma, floral hops, citrus, fresh hay. taste is overwhelmed by a dry bitterness that lasts a bit too much for me.

Helder goudgele kleur, lijkt op appelsap met een witte kop. Geur knalt er niet echt uit. Smaak is zoetige, geroosterde hop met caramel en banaan. Lekker, maar verveelt snel. Aldus Huubs. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy light amber colour, nice lasting white head. Aroma is a bit weird, but I like it. Some overripe fruit, hay, yeast, hops, caramel sweetness. Taste is pretty much like the aroma, though a bit more of it would be nicer. Also lacks a bit in body and alcohol to be impressive. Still interesting and nice enough.

Pale gold-white color, small foam. Aromas of yeast and citrus. Same in taste with a mild body presence. It reminds me a wit version of Belgian ale, with a lack of body presence.

More than decent hoppenbier. The aroma is full, not too sweet, very nice citrus/honey smell. Not as strong or complex as the best hoppen beers, but one of the best beers Jopen has.
