(Draught at Jopenkerk, Haarlem, 27 Feb 2014) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with notes of grainy malt, toast, citrus, crisp-bread and a slightly metallic touch. Malty, fruity taste with citrus, apricots, orange peel, toast and a fresh citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Fresh and tasty. Quite nice.

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2015 Very nice and refreshing mild pale ale with a nice carbonation. Nostalgic smell of cellars, nice bite with lemongrass flavors as well as a faint hint of cinnamon.

Bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis at home. The beer has an amber color and a nice white head with lots of bubbles. In the aroma tones of hops and herbs. The taste is spicy with a medium bitterness and fruitiness by the hops. The finish is refreshing and a little spicy with a long bitterness in the end. A really nice beer by Jopen. It’s refreshing and well drinkable.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.3%. Golden brown colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Dryish aroma of wood and lightly roasted malts, hints of ashes. Dry flavour with a slight fruity acidity, notes of wood, rye bread and lightly roasted malts again, some resin. Medium bitter aftertaste.

0,3l Flasche.

Pours a clear dark amber, almost mahogany, with a thick and fairly persistent buff head. Aroma has firm rye and hoppy components, rather tempting. Flavor echoes the rye and hops of the aroma, only stronger, and adds a bit of apple to the mix. Texture is smooth and fizzy, leaving a nice rye finish.

Clear copper with small head. Spices, fresh baked dark bread, lots of citrusy hops and light tropical fruit. Light sweet with hoppy bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. Pretty interesting stuff.

Bottle. Pours copper with haze. Small, white, good lasting head. Aroma of resin, caramel with a hint of citrus fruits and intensive rye notes (earthy, like soil after the rain). Resiny hop character and earthy notes dominate the taste with some caramel in the background. Moderate, nice bitterness. A bit oily on the palate. Not bad, though i expected something more interesting. Good pale ale with rye character.
