Draft at Gollem’s Proeflokaal, Amsterdam on 16th March 2012. Brown-to-black with grey ring-and-film head and almost no lacing. Rich pungent aroma. Deeply pungent liquid with soft fruit/berries/blackcurrant cassis. Finish is leathery and a touch lactic with noticeable roof-of-mouth bitterness. Medium body and slightly oily yet grainy and engaging texture. An interesting beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 brugmanneke (81) - GERMANY - MAR 11, 2012
(30 cl bottle) Reddish dark brown colour, almost black, with a tan foamy head. Light to medium bitter, medium sweet taste. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, nuts, dried fruits, and minerals. Pumpernickel. A hint of herbal hops in the background as a contrast as well. Medium to full body, slightly sticky texture. Alcoholic. To sweet and heavy for my taste right now, but certainly a good beer.
