(33cl bottle, courtesy of bierkoning) Hazy, copper colour with a big and persistent beige foamy head. Yeasty, moderately sweet and slightly toasty malt aroma with caramel, a tinge of liquorice, undefined spicy, herbal elements and noticeable alcohol. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, quite light bodied regarding its strength, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Toast-malty taste with caramel, raisins and spicy notes; moderately sweet, strong spicy and herbal finish. Very interesting old fashioned style, although the historical brews most probably didn´t had that strength.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep red-brown colour with a medium fair lasting light brown head. Lots of spices in the aroma along with mild roasted malt, caramel and dark fruits and some liquorice. Good mouthfeel. The flavour is nicely spiced with roasted malt, caramel, dark fruits, hops and alcohol. Spiced roastish bit alcoholic finish. Good brew indeed.

Caged and corked. This poured with the color of a muddy river bottom with an initial blast of carbonation that disappears almost instantly. The aroma is strongly soured and vegetabley. As I drink, I’m trying to decide if I like this. It’s an odd blend of sweet yeastiness, some gross dried fruit and a funky root beery thing, too. Odd. (#3121, 10/6/2007)

Nice full and tasty brew. Dried fruits, caramel and a bit yeasty beer, more like an abt beer then a traditional ale. Fruity, malty and full long finish. Very nice.
