mike1977ok (373), Netherlands Nov 30, 2008 Dark red brown colour with thin lacy head. Spicy aroma. The gagel/gale gives a clean almost menthol scent. Flavour initially dominated by the slightly sour, herby feel. A little maltiness is also present. High alcohol content means the beer ends with a warming feeling. Bart (1455), Vosselaar, Belgium Nov 29, 2008 Darker brown coloured beer with rather little carbonation and a small off-white head. Some yeast particles. Sweet banana fruity aroma with some malty touches. Full palate. Finish is bitter, herby malty with a light alcoholic touch. Medium one. Wim (834), Turnhout, Belgium Nov 29, 2008 red brown coloured body with a sparkling of white head a spicy herby aroma a herby grainy spicy tast with a grainy little alchoholic finish RichardGretton (2747), Leicestershire, England Nov 2, 2008 Bottle. Lightish black beer with a fruity lightly spiced and spritzy aroma. The flavour is warming, spiced, and bitter fruity. Overall a nice gently spiced drink. marcus (1118), Sacramento, California, USA Oct 15, 2008 This dark brown ale poured with a thin off-white head with a light herbal aroma. It has a very interesting flavor due to the use of gruit (assorted herbs) rather than hops. It is a sweet and malty beer, but the flavor is somewhat flat with some distinctive herbal notes including anise. This is a tasty brew that is worth trying, if only for its uniqueness.
