2007 bottle, 750 ml with caged cork. Ready with a big Duvel glass in case of a gusher… but nope, not a problem this time. Pours reddish brown, fizzy like a soda, thin head. Smell is, um, like a rubber inner tube in the glass! Definitely, this got corked like a red wine. But a light herbal quality in the bottle. Wha hoppen? Okay, I can get past the nose and sip some of the beer, which is not as herbal as, well, other traditional ales, in fact, milder than some other old beers I’ve kept too long. So beyond the spoiled nose I find a slightly fruity ale, not too spicy and herbal, with a slight bit of tart marred by too much horseblanket. It’s a sign. I need to clear out my cellar!

Bottle at Beerville, Belgrade. Cloudy brown, creamy foam. Sweet herbal aroma. Rich leather body, coffee smooth roast, some banana ester, but roast-alc bite at finish. Quite nice.

Bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Spicy and strong, almost like a liquor. Fruity, sweet, dark and dried fruit. A bit boozy, thick, heavy. Warming like a barley wine. Not sure I dig this combination, but it could just be me.

Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, caramel, fruit, liquorice, spices, bread and roasted malts.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque ruby/brown beer with a slight/medium beige head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, fruit and liquorice; ends slightly dry with spices, bread and roasted malts.

Overall:
This beer tastes similar to a dunkler bock. Could have been more intense and could have more depth. It is extremely drinkable and has a good thick palate.

En balance mellem krydderier, rsitet malt og karamel smag. Specielt den krydret del af řllen er rigtig god

hazy brown colour, huge, dense off-white head; aroma of floral honey, walnut, dried plum and cherry, and some liqueur; taste is the same; great ale!

330ml bottle poured in Bierhuis de Klomp, Delft - Red ruby body, little in the way of head. Nose is very herb-forward, with subtle notes of fruit and dark chocolate. Liquorice also comes into the taste, a bit bitter, some sour raisin at the back end. Odd aftertaste, but very warming.

bottle @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Cloudy dark brown color, deep tan head that drops quickly to a light cover, no lace. Taste is chewy, syrupy malt with medium carbonation, followed by herbs and light bittering in a long warm finish. Surprisingly, the initial swallow tasted a lot like a somewhat flat Coke. It’s okay, but a little goes a long way.

33cl bottles shared by impuritylaw@Bier ohne Stil-TAsting, Bierhandlung 2016-4, merci. - A balanced wealth of herbal, roasted and caramel flavours that soon become hard to trace in the palate-coating mix. Liquid diluted Ricola coughdrops, diluted with precision and spiced like a sauce reduction. Warming, with good-natured intent. Will revisit side-by-side with Gentse Gruut Inferno.

@bartlebier’s weird beer tasting Bierhandlung/Apr.16; the essence of a beautiful morning of a great day to come, begun with bowl of porridge with ripe bananas and cup of good strong coffee. Lovely.
