Mooie zwarte kleur met met weinig creme schuim. Ruikt rokerig, whiskey geur. Smaakt lekker rokerig, whiskey. Prima, maar niet de beste. Iets dun van structuur.

caesar (5324) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - DEC 20, 2014
Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, dated April 2014, 2e afvulling, large sample. Dark color, short brown head. Aroma of heavy peat, roast, licorice, slight dark chocolate. Soft bitterness in taste, quite some roast, tar, peat. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Quite nice, for a peated RIS that is.

Countbeer (4755) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - OCT 11, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Almost black with a thin beige lacing. Aroma has loads of iodine, some peat, some soy, light wood roast... Flavours of earth, iodine, spice, roast, some rye, light peat, delicious and balanced yet bit watery and easy drinker... Maybe a good starter... Aftertaste is a mix of iodine, roast, some peat, light spice and Low carbo, watery mouthfeel, fuller bodied and a bit thicker texture.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a light beige head. Aroma: peat, liquorice, chocolate. Taste: peat, iodine, salty liquorice (salmiakki), chocolate, wood, red fruit. Medium sweet and bitter, creamy mouthfeel, warming peaty finish which is a bit on the short side. The Laphroaig infuence is very much present, yet itís surprisingly balanced for an Islay BA.

bierkoning (10563) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - SEP 7, 2014
330 ml bottle. Deep dark brown color. Peat and iodine in the nose, next to the roasty malt, caramel and chocolate. Peat, hints of iodine, red fruit and whisky in the flavor. Warming alcohol. Lots of aroma and flavor, somehow satisfyingly balanced.

0,33l fles gedeeld met nikos. Zwart met een onnatuurlijk lichte schuimkraag. Redelijk veel co2 voor een hout gerijpt bier. T.over de first fill iets minder medicinaal. In de geur nogsteeds cacao en jodium en drop. Smaak Is iets zuur als.onrijpe bramen met ook gist en daarna in de afdronk de.leukoplast. Bijzonder en smaakvol
Earlier Rating: 11/23/2013 Total Score: 4

MarcoDL (2398) - NETHERLANDS - AUG 24, 2014
Bottle. Has quite a heavy smell of smokey peat. This is dominant in the taste as well. The aftertaste is a bit boozy. Body is a bit thin for a laphroaig aging, itís overwhelming everything else. Decent beer, needs more balance.

Alengrin (2464) - BELGIUM - AUG 22, 2014
Dutch imperial stout matured on Laphroaig barrels (single malt from Islay). Creamy, dark beige, dense head, very dark wine-red colour, almost black, misty. Powerful aroma of iodine, peat, whisky, tobacco, coffee grounds, fondant, leather, sage, wood, liquorice. Spicy onset (sage, thyme), candied fruits, very dry, powdery mouthfeel, resinous, a bit salty on a deep chocolatey and smoky malt base, hop bittering in the finish with warming alcohol, almost wry, with still a subtle candi-like sweetness, everything very much sodden in iodine and peated whisky. Laphroaig was never my favorite single malt and having it this ostentatious in a beer is just too much for me. This is the kind of beer with an uncompromizing complexity youíll either love or hate.

This beer is intensely peated. The smoke can actually be a bit off putting, in fact. A little more balance would have served this beer well.
