Mooie zwarte kleur met met weinig creme schuim. Ruikt rokerig, whiskey geur. Smaakt lekker rokerig, whiskey. Prima, maar niet de beste. Iets dun van structuur.

Alengrin (1025) - BELGIUM - AUG 22, 2014
Dutch imperial stout matured on Laphroaig barrels (single malt from Islay). Creamy, dark beige, dense head, very dark wine-red colour, almost black, misty. Powerful aroma of iodine, peat, whisky, tobacco, coffee grounds, fondant, leather, sage, wood, liquorice. Spicy onset (sage, thyme), candied fruits, very dry, powdery mouthfeel, resinous, a bit salty on a deep chocolatey and smoky malt base, hop bittering in the finish with warming alcohol, almost wry, with still a subtle candi-like sweetness, everything very much sodden in iodine and peated whisky. Laphroaig was never my favorite single malt and having it this ostentatious in a beer is just too much for me. This is the kind of beer with an uncompromizing complexity you’ll either love or hate.

This beer is intensely peated. The smoke can actually be a bit off putting, in fact. A little more balance would have served this beer well.

Tap at Botermarkt Bierfestival, Haarlem: Very dark brown colored brew with an nice bitter taste and hints of liquorice, peat and caramel.

33 cl bottle @ hotel room, Amsterdam. Bottled on 04/2014
Aroma has alcohol and strong Laphroiag notes with peat and licorice. Flavour has lots of peat, Laphroiag whisky, smoke, some salty licorice and alcohol. Also some dry woody tones. Alcohol warms my throat after a sip. An intensive Laphroiag juice, 10 cl of this is quite enough.

ShivanDragon (1523) - Leeuwarden, NETHERLANDS - JUL 6, 2014

De geur in het glas deed me echt bijna over me nek gaan. De smaak was nog erger. Wat een vieze bocht zeg.

Bottle from local Mitra. This stout has way too much Laphroaig influences for my taste. Didn’t feel like I was having a beer, more like having whisky. Complexity is probably present but I wasn’t able to experience it because of the strong Laphroaig taste.

kermis (4922) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JUN 9, 2014
Draft at the Noord-Hollands Bierfestival. Pours murky brown with a ring tan head. The Laphroaig and peat completely overpower any other aspects of the aroma. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with flat carbonation.

At NHBF 2014. Poured deep, dark brown with a small tan ring. Aroma of sweet peat, roast malt. Full body, flavour much as the aroma. Bit lacking in overall body, but nice.
