COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed for Restaurant Librije. Brewed with spices and trekdrop.

The beer has some nice looks. The beer pours only little foam, because of the way the beer was poured. This suits the beer type. The color of the beer is quite black on the naked eye, but reveals some beautiful dark ruby red colors when seen in a strong light. The beer is quite clear. The beer has a strong alcohol smell, which reminds me of vodka. There are also aroma’s of roasted barley and licorice. The licorice gives a little sweetness to the smell. It is quite special. The taste of the beer is fulfilled with sweet licorice and a little roasted barley bitterness. The beer has a creamy touch and there are some chocolate flavors. There is a delicious balance between bitterness and sweetness. The beer has a nice warming touch. All in all, a very good beer, but there are just so manny beers that are even better.

(Jopen Librije’s Bier) Bottle 750 ml at Jopenkerk, served into the Jopen glass provided. ABV 10%, I took this with me after one glass as I had to go to the Uiltje bar afterwards. Almost black colour on the body, thick pour. Small but thick dark beige head, with average retention. Nice aroma, liquorice, light floral notes, juniper berries, molasses. Taste is very sweet with caramel, molasses, floral notes, juniper berries, roasted malts, "dropjes". Medium body with good carbonation. Too sweet at times but very nice nevertheless.

75cl, gebrouwen 03/2015, courtesy of brewer@BKL ’15 - SO, merci. Beautiful seamy acajou-brown chestnut pour, good firm tainted cap. Refined sweet liquorice tea, Rooibos, raisin, plum jam, Marmite nose. Taste is like a blend of heavier dark fruit Dopplebock caramels, executed with more finesse, and the spiciness of a Belgian dark ale: sweet longcorn pepper, red grapes, cinnamon-spiced plum jam, dry yeast, Marmite-like in the finish. Would not have picked up the juniper berry or chili. Quite a nice sweet sipper.

Uit een grote fles @ beerpreuvenement Horst. Donkerbruin, matige kraag. Ruikt houtig, port.

75cl bottle shared at Jopenkerk, 2014 edition. Dark brown with a soapy tan head. Full body with low carbonation. Lot of sweet tones with some nice bitterness. Licorice, raisin, herbs, flowers, caramel and dark fruits. Quite a tasty experience, different but tasty.

75cl bottle, 2013 edition. Dark reddish brown colour, no head. Spicy, herbal nose and taste, liquorice, clove, plums, light milky coffee, sweet and soft malts. Quite complex altogether. Good body (but light judged by the 10°), medium carbonation, soft mouthfeel.

Weird and heavy licorice, some other herbal off notes... Thick sweet body, alcohol is well hidden... Gets better after eating some trek drop
