Malle Babbe is a dark blond Weizen brewed with Saphyr hops as whirlpool hops. The beer should have banana and citrus flavours.

Kaum hopfiger, eher wässriger Antrunk. Keine Hefigkeit, geringe Herbe. Laff, minimal Zitrus. Schlecht. 9/6/7/6/9/6

Amber with modest head. A: caramelized malts, banana, some lemon. Yeast deposit reveals more fruitiness, raspberries. T: more like a typical Blond than Weizen. Starts quite astringent, with marzipan, brown sugar. Moves towards a fruity, wheat-like taste, raspberries, lemon candies, banana. Aftertaste is fruity and dry.

Beautiful clear copper beer (hence rather an Urweizen than a Dunkel!), lively carbonated under a very dense & fine, stable off-white head with sticking lace. Wheat, toasted malts, some banana and clove, fresh bread. Nose somewhat hampered by the tight head. Banana, bit "foxy", fiery flavour, wheatacidity obvious, esters. Finish is a bit peppery, also in the feel Very lively, spritzy carbonation, but rather light body, with not much wheatslickness. I’d have liked some more yeast, and a bit more flavour. Still, certainly not bad. However, my already dubitative esteem for Sapphire certainly hasn’t enlarged by this one.

Bottled@AIH40. (from biernavigator). Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is floral, fruity, some toffee and a bit syrupy sweet notes. Flavour is citrus, some syrup, mild floral notes as well as some toffee. Simplistic and quite a typical "Dutch Ale" (to which for instance almost all "bok" beers from Holland also suits).
