COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Malle Babbe is a dark blond Weizen brewed with Saphyr hops as whirlpool hops. The beer should have banana and citrus flavours.

Dark weizen, dense white head. Aroma has citrus and banana, wheat. Fresh taste, like a weizen, some sweets in it, somewhat dry, fruity. Dry finish. A nice weizen variant.

Medium offwhite head. Hazy deep yellow body. Mealy papery fruity aroma with caramelly notes. Dry-sweet, and faintly acidic, fruity mealy papery taste with oily caramelly notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish oily fruity banana aftertaste with chalky metallic notes. Not very impressive. (0.33l bottle from de Kaaskamer, Amsterdam.)

Somehwat hazy orange yellow with big white foam head. Aroma is little citrus, banana. Taste is fruity, again some banana. Aftertaste is short, mostly because I was eating salami pizza. (Haarlem 201304)

300 ml bottle at home, Seems Jopen is switching to the "pipje" bottle. Poured into a weizen glass. ABV 5.5%. 1,45€ Very deep orange colour, or very light amber. Lots of activity in the bottle, two full fingers of slighty off-white head, with very good retention and nice lacing left on the glass. Aroma mostly of bubblegum, followed by the wheat. Some light banana smell on the background too. The taste is great and much different than every other weizen I had till now. More of a citrus flavours upfront, wheat follows but less notable than other examples, the typical bubblegum and banana are there but are coming out at the very end, balancing the citrus and leaving the sweet aftertaste weizens typically have. Very nice, extra refreshing. Medium thin on the body, good amount of carbonation. Overall a nice surprise, making the style far more appealing, at least to me.

Bottle, year old. Slightly hazy orange brown color, thick off-white head. Aroma of toasted malt and some caramel. Some wheat. Soft sourish fruity hint, which I think is from the Saphyr hops. I got the same sourish fruit in some Saphyr pale ales. It lacks the banana, but it didn’t have any banana when I drank it fresh from tap last year either. Taste is of wheat, caramel and cookie. Soft bitterness, only a hint of sweetness, which is usually the other way around in a weizen. On the other hand, finish is more sweet, slight thin. It’s actually better than the time I had it from tap.

Bottle @ home. Golden copperish colour with a small head. Smells malty and grassy mostly. Not a lot of smells going on here. Tastes malty and decent. A bit of an ale taste without the caramel. Could be better, but also could be a lot worse. Thin to medium body (fitting the abv) and a nice carbo that enhances the drinkability.

found this in some old notes from early 2012. Apparently it was watery but classy. Also have no idea where I had this, maybe somewhere in Delft.

A clear amber/orange colored beer, with a thick foamy white head. The aroma of sweet fruits like banana, some citrus and hop. The taste of sweet fruits, banana, a little hop. The aftertaste is flat sweet and some bitter.

Clear amber, lasting white head. Taste and aroma banana, yeast, dough, some spices, something funky. Sticky mouth feel, good carbo. Not my type of beer.

Hordóból csorgatva kaptuk ezt az izét. Sötét narancssárga szín jellemezte, ami igen zavaros és szinte semmi habbal sem rendelkezik. Illata édeskés, rendkívül élesztős és olyan, mintha majonézes halat áztattak volna benne.Az élesztő is igencsak dominál az ízében kiegészítve déligyümölcsökből készült lekvárral, karamellával. Elég sűrű és semmi buborék sincs benne. Utóíze lekváros, édeskés, kissé gejl. Na, ez meg mi volt?
