3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Color is very dark brown, looks like strong coffee, it has small nice creamy head. Aroma is like chocolate cake, cream, coffee, lactose, nuts and a bit alcohol. Taste is like coffee, bitter, not sweet as I was expecting. Overall not as good as I was expecting, the aroma is better then the taste.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black with small beige head. Roasted malts and meat, cherries, grapefruit, ryebread. Taste is quite bitter with fruity sweetness, bitter aftertatse. Medium mouth, doesn’t feel like 10% at all. Love the balance between heavy roasted malts and strong hops here.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2013 A true masterpiece indeed. It?s a delicious imperial stout, with strong notes of coffee, dark chocolate and some rye. The fruity and bitter american hops provide for a great balance.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home. Pitch black pour with a nice beige head. Rye, malts, grain and stouts hints the aroma. Taste starts with light hints of coffee. A bit too much alcohol in the taste? Some licorice, chocolate, hops and cream in the taste. Very hoppy aftertaste. Good one.

I opened this bottle and expected to be surprised. Unfortunately i wasn’t. While Jopen Meesterstuk 2012 is still a good imperial stout, it’s nothing to shout about. I agree that the flavor is full and strong, and it somehow reminds me of the Guinness Foreign Extra Stout of the old days.
