COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In honor of Saint Martin, Jopen annually brews a masterpiece. Saint Martin was the saint of the brewers guild of Harlem. In earlier times artist and craftsmen had to undergo a test of skill. This masterpiece of 2012 is a limited edition. This year we chose a Rye Russian Imperial Stout of 10% for our beer. This thick black beer is full and strong in flavor because of the combination of roasted rye malt and various American hops.

Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a huge brown head. The aroma has notes of odd fruits, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of yeast, malt, caramel, and cocoa, leading to a dry finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a cloudy deep orangey brown with a lacing beige head. Dark dried fruits in the nose. Medium body only, not thick and chewy with a very bitter finish from both hops and roast. An odd Stout, and to me not exactly a masterpiece. 230512

Always the highlight of the year when Jopen brews their "Meesterstuk", a glorious rye imperial stout. Very robust, full of complexity and taste it is not a sweet as many imperial stouts are, but with a herby bitter finish. It is a sipper, weighing in at 10% like a Rochefort, but better!

For all of you who likes Russian Imperial Stouts, try the Jopen Meesterstuk 2012. Wow, what a taste. But be carefull, it’s a heavy one! perfect in combination with chocolate or red cheeses.

Deep ruby black one with a creamy beige head. Aroma of smoke, ash and burnt wood, light dried fruits. Creamy mouthfeel but dry burnt wood in the flavor, ash and tobacco, some molasses overpowered by the roasted grains. Light roasted aftertaste
