4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Douberd (681) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 4, 2013
Brewed once a year as a tribute to Sint Martin, protector of the brewer’s guild in Haarlem. The last two years they brewed
an RIS, while this year they chose to brew a quadrupel, on a limited quality enough for 7500 bottles.
330 ml bottle, at home, poured into a snifter. ABV 10%. Bottle 5784/7500 if that says something.
Pours a very dark brown coloured beer with one finger of beuge head sitting on top. Good retention, it could be better.Good lacing left around the glass.
Very nice aroma, veery frutiy and not like any quadrupel I have had. Hints of green apples, bananas, even refreshing notes of ripe melon,
combine to create a fantastic aroma.
Very nice taste too, quite fruity as well, only once again with all the different fruits you are used to getting in a quadrupel. Alcohol is not
traceable on the taste but it sures gives a warrming feeling even from the first sip. Nice vanila notes as well, while the aftertaste is surely fruity.
Mildly bitter, but all in all a great taste.
Medium thick body, good carbonation that offers just a tiny bite on the tongue. Dry and sort of sticky at the same time on the palate.
Overall this was a great beer, highly recommended.

Clear purple brown beer, big creamy yellow to beige head, little stable. Aroma: lots of banana, more banana. Is this a La Trappe? Or made with La Trappe yeast? MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: raisin bread, very ripe banana, caramel, sugary. Aftertaste: caramel, toast, lots of banana, yeast, sugary, little hoppy, some chocolate and mocha flavours.

Almost black body without much of a head. Port wine notes, woody, red berries and roasted malts. Simple taste start with dark sugar notes, middle becomes more complex and ends bitter. Lasting licorice root ending. Decent brew, bit not quite my kind of beer. (33cl bottle traded with Rob, thanks!)

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown, almost black with a creamy, light tanned head. Aroma is boozy, syrupy, sugary and has heavy molasses and licorice, which return flavor. Very sweet in the flavor and heavy alcoholic. Great to sip, full bodied and flavored. Good beer, but overly sweet.
