COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks tomer. Clear dark amber to brown. Aroma full of dark fruits, a hint of licorice and a bit of alcohol. Sweet flavor, alcoholic, with lots of dark fruits, malt, caramel and a bit of bubblegum. Medium to full-bodied, slightly sticky.

(Drinking date: 19th January 2014) It is a really dark/black beer where no light shines through. It has a creamy, beige layer of foam, but that reduces quickly to a thin layer. The aroma is really delicious. You smell raisins, other ripe dried fruit, salted liqorice and sweet chocolate (pure and milk chocolate). Also in the back you smell a bit of alcohol. When I had the first sip, it dissapointed me a bit. I expected a really round, full beer, but instead it was a bit watery, with a lot of carbonation. The first thing you taste is the alcohol. Then a sweetness, which is followed by a bitter and sweet taste at the same time. The beer also has a bit of a fruity taste, really nice. The sweetness/fruitiness comes from the fruitiness of the hops. The sweetiness also reminds me of sweet liqorice. The bitterness comes from the burned/roasted malt. I really enjoy the taste! The carbanation has to be a bit less, and the texture can be a bit thicker, more full, a bit less watery. The beer leaves a mildy bitter taste in your mouth, together with a really nice, warm feeling. Overall, I really, really like this beer, it has a really delicious taste. The mouthfeel can be better, but the aromas and the taste compensate it more than enough! This is a really good beer for a cold day. That?s why it gets the total score of 4.1!

Sample at Örebro Öl & Whisky 2013. Fruity smell with dried fruit. Similar taste with chocolate and a boozy finish. Felt a bit too young and probably needs to age a bit to get the flavours right.

Heavy beer. I can see the resemblance to other quadrupels when it comes to taste, but it seems to be not as balanced as others. Still, interesting and quite enjoyable.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2014 This strong dark beer has an chocolate aroma, the taste is more espresso like and the caramalt is clearly testable. The quadruple has a very thick mouth. A complex beer for the cold winter days. Drinking blind from a 33 cl bottle. Bottle 1,5 year old. In the aroma perfume, alcohol raisins, oxidation and diluent. The clear red brown beer has a small brown head. High carbonated. (13/05/2014: 6, 4, 7, 4, 14)

Very tasty, very thick. Both in terms of taste and mouthfeel. Licorice dominates this black beer, but there is some mild coffee flavoring as well. Picked this up at ABC beer in the Hague, 2013.
