UPDATED: JUL 16, 2016 Draft at Eulogy. Very dark hazy brown pour with off-white foam that left early lace. Smooth boozy malty raisins. Balsamic caramel. Prunes. Molasses. Black liquorice. Glossy chocolate cherry cordials. Shoe polish. Deep and warming but with a blunt finish. Complex and extraordinary.

Sample at Bob’s Bar. The beer pours a dark copper-brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of dark fruit, caramel and yeast. Full-bodied with flavors of dark fruit, caramel malt, earthy hops and spicy yeast. The finish is sweet with a malt and rum raisin aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Marstonlad (768) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 25, 2016
Bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. Pours dark brown with a very little head. The aroma features sweet maltiness, dark fruitiness and some spiciness; caramel, raisin, plum and chestnut. Taste is medium to heavily sweet; malt-driven, though slightly bitter in the finish. Flavours of caramel, plum and raisin; not much else surfaces as hoppiness is light. The palate is medium to full bodied and smooth, low in carbonation. Tasty and fairly rich.
