Until 2008 brewed by Huyghe. Until 2006 brewed by Van Steenberge. Jopen 4 Grains Bokbeer is made as a ruby red beer made with the three traditional Haarlem grain and rye as a forth grain. The beer contains 6,5% alcohol and has a fruity aroma combined with the dark malts. The taste is lightly smoky from the dark malts used, but there is some sweetness in it to.

rather dense beige head leaves lacing. brown colour. aroma is roasted malts, oats, leather, really reminds me of guiness draught. taste is like aroma, some sweetness (from the rye perhpas) in the back aftertaste is rather bitter from the roasted malts. rather thin body, medium carbonation. i like this, not sure if this is a typical bock. bottle 33cl / bbf oct-2015 / bought as jopen bokbier

30 cL bottle from AH. Very dark with a dense off-white head. Spicey nose. Aroma spiceand chocolate malt. Flavour is spicy and sweet malts. Licorice at the end. A bit chemical tone at the end. Spice effect is overdone

This beer is far away from being a "devine beer". Even if they pretend it to be one. Knowing that Jopen definitely brews some of the finest beers of the Netherlands, this one is disapointing.

Bottle 33cl, Appearance: Dark brown ,with a nice huge creamy head and very good retention. Aroma: malts, caramel and spices Taste: Caramel, light sweet, decent bitterness, starts with caramel, some fruit some good roasted tones and some spices there, finish has a nice hint of coffee. Medium body, average carbonation. Good bockbeeer, but a bit predictable.

Ok, I’m done with the bock beers now. This is quite a standard bock, nothing special. Mostly malts in aroma and taste, medium body, medium carbonation, sticky.

On tap at Jack’s bier café. Red brown with an offwhite head. Malty sweet aroma, caramel, something metallic, stale bread. Taste is sweet malty, caramel, dark fruits, hint of chocolate. Not too bad.

Typical bock beer, not to sweet, some freshness & warmth. Not really impressive but still really nice.

Flesje jopen bockbier.

From a bottle from the supermercato. From the bottle comes a mud, Amber colored beer with a big foam head. Taste of chocolate, caramel en coffee. All in all its not too expressive but a nice bok.

This beer pours a hazy, light-brown body and half an inch of tan head that settles to a patchy sheet. The nose is fully malty, with caramel, dried fruit, brown sugar, molasses, and toffee. On the palate, it’s noticeably smoky and shows plenty of dried fruit flavor, and these are nice offsets for the otherwise sweet, caramely, toasty, and toffee-like malt character. The beer is medium-plus in weight, medium in carbonation, and though not dry on the palate, it’s not sugary, cloying, or heavy either. Overall, although this may have aged longer than desired, it’s very tasty and enjoyable.
