Until 2008 brewed by Huyghe. Until 2006 brewed by Van Steenberge. Jopen 4 Grains Bokbeer is made as a ruby red beer made with the three traditional Haarlem grain and rye as a forth grain. The beer contains 6,5% alcohol and has a fruity aroma combined with the dark malts. The taste is lightly smoky from the dark malts used, but there is some sweetness in it to.

Bought a bottle at Bert’s Bierhuis. The color is reddish brown with a cream colored head, CO2 level is perfect. In the aroma tones of red fruits and a little sweetness of the caramel. The taste is dry and bitter with a light sweetness of the red fruits. The finish is fresh and dry and the bitterness is long noticable. Not my favorite bock, but not the worst.

Bottle 33cl, a dark brown beer with nice huge creamy head and very good retention. Nose is malty, caramel and spicy. Aroma is medium sweet, lot of spices such as cinnamon and paradise seeds, nice round buttery caramel, creamy feeling, light sourness, good and complex, finish is more like a stout with roasted notes and dark chocolate, coffee touch also, nice !

Very dark brown, creamy tan head. Smoky and burnt toast at first, later a bit grassy, dried fruits and yeast, but still some burnt/ashy touches. Thin body. Overall slightly too much ash for my taste.

33cl bottle @ home. Ruby red to cola color, hazy, brownish strong head. Aroma caramel, slightly smoky, malty, dark fruits, red wine notes, light coffee. Taste very light sweetness, medium to heavy bitterness. Medium body, thin feel, lively carbon, long lasting fine bitter finish. Great that sweetness is moderated, this is a fine, tasty bock bear, and easy to drink.

Decent bokbeer. Rubyred color, foam layer dissapears rather quickly. Fruity aroma. Taste of caramel and roasty flavors. Not bad at all.

Best before was 27.10.12, so now more than one year over. The beer in the glass is dark brown, the nose quite aroma-less, a bit malty. The beer starts nicely smooth, caramel, nice bitter hops, rye, probably the floral notes from the oats as well. The mainpart is quite intense, sweet-caramel, the hops become more bitter till the end, brown sugar, slightly roasted (or just the rye). --> interesting!! 10/10/9/10

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2014 2011 version. Pours a hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, coffee, dark fruit. Slighly smokey. This is quite a nice bock, I very much enjoyed it. 2012 version drank 29/11/2013. Decidedly less tasty than the 2011 version, will try this one again in a year. 2014 version, 03/10/2014. Not a big fan of this bock, it’s quite sweet. Gets much better as it ages.

On tap at the Bockbier Festival in Amsterdam. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has some bread and grain notes with a hint of leaves underlying. Flavor has earthy grain and leaves through out with a bit of bread towards the finish.
