COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Until 2008 brewed by Huyghe. Until 2006 brewed by Van Steenberge. Jopen 4 Grains Bokbeer is made as a ruby red beer made with the three traditional Haarlem grain and rye as a forth grain. The beer contains 6,5% alcohol and has a fruity aroma combined with the dark malts. The taste is lightly smoky from the dark malts used, but there is some sweetness in it to.

Has the typical Jopen molasses flavor and smell like with ’Koyt’ and ’Meesterstuk’ beers etc But this one has more burnt malts and dark bitter flavors, not as sweet. I like the burnt / smokey undertone with the medium sweet caramel, molasses and candy sugar to balance it out. Has good body to it. Good beer.

30cl bottle at home. Clear dark brown with a medium off-white head. Medium body with ditto carbonation. Burnt malts, chocolate, some caramel, dark fruits and grains. Sweet and a tad smoky. A very decent dunkler bock.

A usual bok beer, but a little bit more special due to the use of rye and some spices.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2014 Bottle at the Jopenkerk, Haarlem. Poured a clear mahogany with a bubbly off white head. The aroma is yeasty, leading to a medium bitter flavour with lots of roasted malt, yeast and liqourice on the silky smooth palate.

Brownish in color with light head, this beer gives out a toasty aroma along with a toasty aftertaste. Jopen four-grain bokbier is light and fruity, perfect for a warm summer night.

(bottle) reddish brown colour with a tall brown head; aromas of stewed fruit, bit of roast, chocolate; balanced flavour with a long light bitter finish; nice - a bit like a bock stout

Clear light brown with decent light brown foam head. Aroma is sweet caramel, but also some nice hop. Taste is not too sweet for a bokbier, nice. Short caramel aftertaste. (Haarlem 201304)

Zeer donkerbruin bier met medium beige kraag. Metalig in de neus, aroma van geroosterd malt, noten. Smaak ook wat bitterdroog met lichte zoete tonen. Zacht co2, licht cremeïg in de mond.
