2013 version from draft @ Jopen proeflokaal Amsterdam with Lennart 24-10-15. Beer is too sweet for me. Tastes very strong like cherry-candy.

Bottle. It pours a finger-thick dark beige head leaving some lacings over a lightly unclear dark amber to brown body with some microfloaties. The aroma is very perfumed, with marzipan, cherry hints and sugar. Sweet, lightly sugary flavor with marzipan, cherry notes, dried fruits and something perfumed. Full body and a nice carbonation. Lasting finish. Sure unusual this one, a bit too perfumed, but nice. The figs just lurking in the background. 141024

Tap@ABF 2014. Appearance: clear ruby with nice thick beige head. Aroma: lots of sweet fruit, perfume. Taste: figs and figs, very sweet, some bitter. Palate: full bodied sweet bitter, medium CO2. Overall: Over the top, not my beer, too much figs.

On keg at Jopenkerk Haarlem and last of the night - Cloudy murky brown body, with a thin off white head and some broken lace. The aroma is rich cherries, lots of dark cake fruits. The flavour is very sweet with a rich creamy caramel toffee marzipan taste. Great syrupy mouthfeel, but not one I could finish in a rush when we were asked to leave for closing time.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra Beilen. Brown with a beige head. Aroma of sweet toffee and figs. Taste is overwhelming sweet. Figs dominate all with a cloying sweetness just behind that. Normally Jopen is a standard for quality but this one is a sticky mess in my opinion.

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2014 Smells and tastes like apple syrup (rinse appelstroop). Looks like coffee with to much watter (doesn’t look tasty). Tastes of cofee, dried fruit, candy sugar and dried orange. Syrupy. Good for what it is, but not my thing...
