Poured reddish brown with a small off white head. Aroma of vinous deep dark fruit, roast malt. Medium body, flavour is liquorice, sweet berries, roast malt. Don’t see this as an IPA of any description, more an old ale than anything else.

33cl bottle @ home from Melger’s, Haarlem. Murky deep ruby brown color, medium creamy beige mostly diminishing head, fair lacing. Aroma is light roasted malt, parfume, grass, caramel, orange peel, vegetable, citric, light grapefruit, soap, licorice. Taste light sweetness, medium to heavy roasted and medicine bitterness, sligtly sour, hint of saltyness and umami. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Finish is slightly alcoholic, quite hoppy and roasty bitter with long duration. Interesting combination of the hoppy and roasty feel, not very easy to drink, still a bit refreshing and good as a dessert in the same time.

Fles gedeeld met rikstar. Koperbruin bier, helder met fijne kraag. Aroma is wijn, rood fruit. Smaak is stevig zoet, iets bitter in de afdronk. Je proeft de houtlagering bij het doorslikken. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, 330ml at t’Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Dark amber with off white head. Full on darker roasted malts here, bitter, tarry, liquorice along with a fruity alcohol character. Then a chemistry set of hop flavours really heavy stuff but certainly pretty good. Whew.

Bottle at ’t Arendsnest. Hazy, copper brown, small head. Delicious marzipane and fruit aroma. In the mouth marzipane, hints of chocolate, semi-dry. Very good.

A- Deep ruby amber color with a small, off white head. S- Super malty. caramel, chocolate. T- Caramel, milk chocolate, light fruitiness, sweet on the back end. M- Thick with medium carbonation. D- Tastes more like an english barleywine than a DIPA. I enjoyed it but really wished there was more hops to balance out the untamed maltiness.

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Clear red-brown color. Thin off white head, not much retention. Aroma’s: aromatic hops, a bit vinous, woody. Retronasal there’s much more wood, oak, vanilla, wine. Flavor is slightly fruity sour, moderate bitter, with a light malty sweetness. Medium bodied. Finish is rather mild, hardly bitter. Quite nice

Bottle @ Arendsnest shared with Lothore. Clear red color, average sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, some sweetness, some hoppyness, a slight bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. Mediocre as a double IPA.

33cl Bottle at Jopenkerk. For €6.90, yes, Holy Moly!! After the shock of the price, the beer pours amber-brown with a thin tan/beige head. Aroma of lots of wood, tannic red wine, hint of oak, hops, grapefruit. Flavour is mild sweet, harsh woody bitterness, alcohol, light fruity, citrus hops, grapes, bitter woody finish, light oak sweetness. Medium-bodied. Ok, but way over-prices for what it is.
