Bov (7364) - Bienne, - MAY 12, 2011
courtesy of fiulijn - cloudy dark brown in colour and with a persistent beige foam left; a solid aroma of ginger and nutmeg, citrus and cacao; medium malt backbone and quite sweet; finishes a bit short with lingering spicy notes and hints of licorice and cacao - too much spices presence here to be really great

Bottled. An amber beer with an orangey head. The aroma has strong notes of spices - coriander and cinnamon, as well as notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of cinnamon, coriander, malt, and caramel, leading to a dry spicy finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a nutty brown with a slight haze and a creamy off-white head. Heavy aniseed aroma with other X-mas spices too. Medium body, very spicy and tobaccoish, loads of licorice again, some burned caramel underneath. A spice hell indeed. 100511

Bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier
Dark brown color, clear; small head. The aroma, although mild, immediately reveals gingerbread spices (pain d’épices). Moderate caramel flavor, ordinary body, light residual sweetness, evident Christmas spices; correct bitterness, with some extra star anise in the final.
Not my type of beer, but indeed correctly brewed.
