Bottle smuggled back from Las vegas area! Shared with Uncle Steve, Celticbrew, and the new additions to our Cast of Thousands, Chris the Beer Virgin Guitar Hero, Ken aka I.P. Freely, Officer Brian, And our Pal Joey!
Had a bottle with Ken in Vegas, still kind of watrm and was totally unimpressed. Cold it was better. Poured a hazy copper color. Head reduced to a fine lacing. The hoppy flavor was nice. Good bittering. Light floral hop aroma. Definately better cold!

Amber, relatively clear with a small film of foam. Aroma of sweet caramel , syrupy and raisins. Taste is nutty with bitter grassy notes and caramel. Medium body with soft carbonation
1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 cmc619 (325) - California, USA - AUG 6, 2011
Big, foamy, consistent head lattices down a bit as it settles. Beer is dark orange, almost reddish hue to it. Aroma is a bit low in strength, but has some interesting elements to it: mostly non-grapefruit citrus (orange and lime). I could have guessed from the 9.3% ABV, but this beer is hot. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Taste of herbs, mostly. Has a slight medicinal burn to it, accompanied by an unpleasant flavor in the finish. Not a lot of depth here. Missing the hops until the finish--there are regular APAs that smell and taste hoppier than this.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Onionkid (301) - Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA - APR 27, 2010
Bottle. Got this in a variety 6-pack. Brown color with a thin white head. Smells like caramel and citrus with the same taste. I wasn’t expecting that combo when I first sipped the bottle so it caught me off guard. Ultimately, I think both aspects of it are a bit subpar, and while it’s an enjoyable drink and one I wouldn’t mind having if given...it’s not one I’ll be going out of my way to grab again. The aftertaste first hits with a hoppy, bitter aftertaste I’d normally expect, then that sorta indistinguishable, murky bitter/citric taste transforms for a second into a very distinct grapefruit flavor...then it’s finished with a bland toffee/caramel end. That’s the worst part of it for me...the finish is bland. 8.2% alcohol.

12oz bottle. pours out a reddish/brown color. aroma was malt forward with some earthy hops present. malty on the tongue with some blah hop flavor. nothing from this beer reminded me of an imperial ipa. i still would like to try other offerings from them considering they will be opening up shop in Wisconsin soon..
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 trujahwarrior (268) - Monroe, Washington, USA - SEP 3, 2012
Pours a light copper color with a thick white head that leaves good lacing. Smells and tastes like tropical citrus, caramel and toffee with a decent hop bite in the back end. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with good carbonation. Overall this is nothing special for a Imperial Ipa, just the run of the mill.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MadDogMD (213) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - AUG 31, 2012
Can courtesy of beerbastard- thanks Joel! Pours a slightly hazy dark yellow color w/ a big, fluffy white head. Decent aroma of faint, piney hops & sweet, bready malts. Bites the tongue initially w/ bitter hops & alcohol. Moves into un-ripened nectarine, grapefruit pith & pine. Get some cracker & caramel in the middle. Finishes a little more bitter w/ the alcohol showing up again. More sweet than I typically like my DIPA’s but not bad overall. A hard category to be "great" in.

balanced thick aroma of somewhat aged hops and carmely malt. good body. a touch thick, smooth. covers the abv well. taste hoppy, citrus, sweet malt. decent finish. i cannot freakin beleive i had a decent JJ beer. This place had 5 drainpours and a sad excuse for an RIS in the first six i tried. this is by far the best. I know that’s not saying a ton...Pliny it is not...but damn, it’s not drainpour. Yay!!

12oz can: Pours a clear dark gold with a nice medium white head which leads to nice lacing. The aroma is sweet and piney. The taste is bitter and almost has a rye character. The mouthfeel for the beer seems off. Lighter but still coating. Not sure how else to describe this. I’d want to like this and it’s not horrible but I wouldn’t buy it again.
