This Imperial IPA has a large Hop Aroma and sweetness from dark caramel malts. This brew uses Simcoe and Cascade hops and is hopped at 5lbs per barrel. The brew is best enjoyed at 55F.

12oz can pours clear copper with tall tan head of foam. The aroma offers up resiny hops, pine hops and thin hints of thick sweet maltiness off in the background. The taste begins with a hit of booze and resiny bitter pine hops before it moves into more hop flavor and still firm hop bitterness with grapefruit and lemon peel notes. Behind all of the hops is a bit of sweet malts that create nice base for this big somewhat boozy resiny bitter beer. All in all this is pretty darn good for the style.

22 oz. bottle shared by dudeabide. Pours a hazy golden brown color with a medium off white head. The aroma is tingly, almost tart citrus, sweet caramel malts with light herbal notes. Not very hoppy for a DIPA. The flavor is interesting, but not like an Imperial IPA. Tart citrus, grass, herbal, moderately sweet malts with a dry finish. Doesn’t seem to have the big malts and hops for the style.

Canned. Poured hazy medium orange with a creamy, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up orange and other, somewhat dank citrus fruits over some biscuity malts.. not big, but quite enjoyable. The flavor found grapefruit meat, sweet caramel, and biscuity notes at the core.. bitter orange peel and black pepper around.. finished citrusy and bitter, with a nice warm kick. Medium-bodied and a tad grainy on the palate.. balance was good.. this was better than expected, and I’ll have another.

Can. Pours hazy gold with an off white head. Herbal and floral hops, lighter fruity notes, and a lightly sweet malty base. Just a touch of harsh bitterness in the finish. Nice enough.

10/19/13. 12oz can thanks to PorterPounder! Clear golden pour with a small khaki head. Bland, creamy aroma, some resin and dishrag, maltiness. Plain malty flavor, dishrag, resin, caramel. Meh.

Bottle to snifter (thanks dudeabide). Looks good; a hazy burnt-orange with sticky white lacing. Smells hoppy and somewhat funky. Tastes like it smells, but better. Mouthfeel is good, but somewhat bretty. Good, but an atraditional DIPA.

12-oz can. Pours a hazy medium amber with a dense and creamy tan head that takes off as soon as it touches the moustache. Very mild apricot nose mixed with caramel. Creamy medium body with modest carb. Caramel and apricot mid palate, along with a bit of nitrogenous funk. Not a welcome addition. Mild finish.

25/VII/15 - 12Fl. Oz. can @ Trillium tasting, home - BB: n/a (2015-996) Thanks to sebletitje for sharing the can!

Clear orange beer, creamy off-white irregular head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, pineapple, resinous, piny. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very bitter, hoppy, resinous, citrus, bit metallic, pineapple. Aftertaste: hoppy, resinous, some alcohol, pineapple, bit sourish, very bitter, caramel malts. Don’t understand how this can score so low?

Can:   Amber, clear, slightly fiery, moderate off-white batter like head, fairly nice lacing.   Seems like a fairly strong rich biscuity and caramel nose.   Moreso on the caramel side.   Sweet pithy flavor, citrusy, moderate malt base, not too bitter or hoppy.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Seems like a weak malty IPA if you ask me.   Not much about this says Imperial IPA, not big in malts nor hops.   It certainly isn’t all that bitter either.   Its not bad, its just overall light.
