3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle; poured a murky/hazy/cloudy golden/amber/orange color with an off white/khaki head. Aroma of sweet chewy malt, alcohol, and a bit of earth. Not very hoppy for the style. Flavor had alot of sweetness, caramel and some very ripe fruit. Hops were again subdued. Tastes almost more like a barley wine than a double IPA. drinkable, yet disappointing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Local bottle at home celebrating 2 Dec 09! Pours a turbid light brown colour with a small white head and some bubbly lacing. Big aroma of sweet pink grafruit hops and caramel malt plus a little spice in the finish. VERY balanced flavour with a relatively short, sweet, perfumey finish. Just a little bitterness lingers. Maybe a little light on the hop notes but not the bitterness if that makes any sense. Good effort from these guys though as they just get started.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours hazy dark orange. A very grapefruity aroma, almost overpowering and not fresh. The flavor is dominated by the hops, perhaps too much. There is a distinct bitterness that tapers off toward the end leaving a pleasant, mellow dryness on the back of the tongue. This is its most redeeming quality.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: APR 3, 2014 This is a pretty decent IIPA but my can at least is not terribly fresh or vibrant tasting. If that is just how this beer is or if itís old, I cannot tell because there is no date on it. Oh well. Rated as is for purposes of science! It pours an orange color so hazy aas to be verging on muddy. Itís head is thick and white and made of evenly sized small bubbles. The nose on this is, as youíd expect, quite hoppy with an emphasis on pine mostly and some earthy herbal notes underneath. It is somewhat sweet but not overly so and just a touch on the sticky side. This is a one and done kind of beer. It is just a bit too heavy to drink a lot of, which isnít really a terribly problem at over nine percent alcohol. Finish is caramelly sweet with a lingering earthy bitterness. This isnít bad but thereís really just so many good IIPAs that I donít see myself every buying this again unless maybe I see it on tap.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Brown pour with some muddy extras at the bottom of the bottle. Aroma is malt and light tropical citrus. Palate is on the flat side. Malty brown sugar and molasses in an ashy taste. Meh.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle
Because of the generosity of a fellow member I was able to try this beer from a new state. It wasnít very exceptional as far as imperial IPAs. On the other hand it does knock out Nevada which reduces the number of states even more. If this is the calling card for the state than I doubt I will be hurrying to try any more.
Aroma / Appearance - A shock white head was bright against the caramel opaque body. A light orange tint around the edges was the color of the rising sun. Rosy floral hops, caramel, honey, and chocolate raisin bread are generally tropical in nature. A bit heavy handed it is a little flawed but not majorly off kilter.
Flavor / Palate - Chewy pine nuts and chocolate muffins mixed evenly. Caramel notes in the background add a bit of depth but do not make it more interesting past the third sip. The mouthfeel is a little cloying and syruppy. Overall it is decent but slightly below average. All the elements are there for a good experience - it is just that they donít quite fit together seamlessly.
