3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This was one of the bottles we got a Lee’s in Vegas before heading out to the desert. Had this in St. George. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Sort of burnt malt aroma. Near med body. Flavor is chocolate, with some coffee, and burnt malt. It’s fairly smooth burnt malt. Decent enough. Bitter finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours black with a solid 3toffee fingers of thick tan head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate with a hint of vanilla. Taste is light bitter. Loads of coffee and dark chocolate. A slight aftertase of artificial cherry. Full bodied with a super thick texture. Very fizzy carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, very good. Not a fan of the carbonation. Bad bottle maybe? While slightly warming, the alcohol is very well hidden. I would drink this one again.

Shared Ron’s bottle. Thanks! This is underrated. Pretty much a classic r .i.s. in every way.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black as a Siberian night and topped with a thick coffee foam head. Modest chocolate and coffee notes, with a pleasant sweetness. Quite smooth smelling grains for an imperial stout. Again, the body is surprisingly smooth. No real rough edges to the coffee and chocolate notes. Chocolate liquor underpinning. Dangerously smooth and with some pricks of dark chocolate on the finish. A touch of cherry cordial.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
It pours black leaving a mocha colored head that dissipated quickly. Minimal foamy ringy lacing is left in my nonic. The smell has the chocolate notes up front coming forward in a roasty way. The taste is sweet having the chocolate dominate the mouth in the same roasty way yet there is still a slight bitterness coming through. The palate is medium to heavy and coats the mouth in a creamy smooth wonderful way. Overall, though not as drinkable as some other RIS’s, I still liked it.

Pours tar black with a brown head that vanishes quickly. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, and anise. Lots of coffee and roasted malt flavor with hint of chocolate, anise, and alcohol. Big beer.

Bottle, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. This followed the Bruery Tart of Darkness, so it probably scores a little higher from me, since it satisfied my dark malt craving that I failed to find in the sour Tart. Deeply roast and thickly malty, soy sauce, molasses, coffee, vanilla all in that order of participation. Moderately bitter finish. Not sure why this scores so low, as it drank well with me.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This pours black with a thin tan head which leaves some spotty lacing. The aroma has some chocolate, molasses, coffee, and toasted oats. The flavors start off a bit sweet with caramel, molasses, and milk chocolate. However, it finishes roasty and bitter with grains, bitter coffee, and unsweetened dark chocolate. There’s some heft to this making it a smaller doses beer for me. While not incredibly exciting, it is a pretty well done Imperial Stout.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour with large tan head. Aroma of chocolate milk, roasted malts and hint of coffee. Taste of malts, chocolate, cocoa, hint of molasses. Full bodied with a slight bitterness on the finish, pretty good beer.
