3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 sbanach (177) - USA - JAN 31, 2012
Aroma is caramel, wheat, banana. Appearance is a amber haze. Beer is cloudy, nice tan head with lace. Taste is caramel, big banana, slight clove, yeasty, semi sweet with a nice slight hop balance. Tases like an abbey or another belgian brew Palate is full, lingering, bready. Overall, a great brew that was probably drank during medieval times. Great value at $1 a bottle at TJ. highly recommended..
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tmoreau (1278) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - DEC 12, 2011
12 oz. bottle from a friend who purchased it at Trader Joe’s. Poured to a small weizen glass with a cloudy, brown/amber color, light tan/cream, fairly lasting, silky head, and good cling to the waves & spots of lacing. The aroma was immediately circus peanuts/banana candy, then spice as clove, light breadiness, a little toast, and hints of sweet caramel, bubblegum, and vanilla. The flavor started with a slight metallic hint that faded, then the aroma notes, soft hop bitterness, smooth malt, lively carbonation, and light creaminess to the mouth feel, all in a medium body. Tasty and nicely sessionable.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ryan82SM (761) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - DEC 11, 2011
Aroma of brown sugar/molasses, banana, clove, bubblegum. Appearance is translucent cola brown, with light bone head. Flavor starts with sweeter malts, including a little chocolate and has a banana/bubblegum finish. Palate is slightly chewy and bubbly. Really well made; it seems like Joseph Brau can do their thing on the German styles.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 curly (2217) - Seattle (Newcastle), Washington, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Muddy brownish orange color, beige head leaves a small cap of foam. Aroma of toffee, plums, other dark fruit, yeast. Taste is mostly yeasty with dark fruit sweetness and just a light amount of bitter roast on the finish.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Reid (1388) - Salem,Oregon, Oregon, USA - DEC 1, 2011
12 oz single from Trader Joes, Salem store. $1.20
slighly murky hazelnut brown beer with a small dissapating off white head.
Spicy, phenolic and slightly sour aromas..the our is a concern seeing how crappily TJs take "care" of their beers.
Happily it is not a problem..there is a slight sourness, which is unusual for style but it works against the spices and bubble gum well..semi sweet wheatiness..actually very nice.
OK on the tongue..not to thin and to style.
Overall a very nice sour wheat beer!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Cybercat (1749) - Georgia, USA - NOV 30, 2011
Aroma is strong and malty with a firm fruity overtone that is mainly apple with a shade or two of banana. It pours a hazy, barely transparent mahogany-gold with a thick, if not too persistent, ivory head. Malty, fruity flavor is quite pleasing and refreshing with a hint of yeast. Smooth, firm-bodied texture has a decent amount of fizz. Overall, a rather nice beer.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 csaso (349) - Missouri, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Bottle - thick creamy head, dark amber color with lots of carbonation bubbles, very malty sweet flavor with hints of raisins - just not my type of beer
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 nickd717 (3253) - San Francisco, California, USA - NOV 19, 2011
12oz bottle. Cloudy brown in color with a one finger khaki head. Toffee and banana dominate the aroma with a bit of wheaty clove. The flavor is just a tad weak but good otherwise, with a somewhat complex banana, clove, toffee, and fit malt base. Medium-light in body with average carbonation. A slightly above average example of the style overall.
