3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle poured into a tulip. Compared directly to the Josephsbrau Hefeweizen I had earlier.
A: Pours a very dark tawny color with strong yeast haze. The head is a two finger light cream color with decent enough texture, but low retention. More aesthetically pleasing than their hefe.
S: Banana, wheat, brown sugar, caramel, and some lighter fruits. Weak but pleasantly aromatic.
T: A decent amount caramel and brown sugar to start. There are hints of crisp apple and other dried fruits in spots, while the finish is smooth and wheaty. Just like TJ’s hefe, it’s decent enough, but kind of nondeScript.
M: A little less carbonation than I anticipated. Thinning out the body a little bit would really help this one be more drinkable - like a lot of the Josephsbrau beers, it’s too heavy to support the flavor profile, but it’s drinkable enough otherwise.
O: Pretty damn average on all counts, but there’s a modicum of enjoyment to be found here. It’s cheap as hell, so it’s still definitely worth a look.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Nice darker hefe looking thing from a bottle. Mild sweet candy olfactory. At first a little difficult, again seems somewhat aged but date is 9/12/15. Perhaps more bitter and medicinal than was expected. Creamy hefe co2 is welcomed on gulps. Getting better as session continues. Banana is more apparent on the finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle, because, really why not?
A: Dark amber color with a firm, foamy creme colored head. Very slight lacing.
N: Rye bread, clove, banana, some toffee, some cinnamon, bits of toasted biscuit, white peppercorns.
T: Sweet side with a bittering element, but somewhat bland here.
M: Light to the point of watery, fizzy carbonation, no alcohol presence.
O: Honestly, not half bad. I wouldn’t want a full six pack of these, but given how well the nose comes off, I wouldn’t refuse another one, either. I just wish the body didn’t make the taste seem so flavorless.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle, label says best before 10/30/15. Served in a weizen glass, the beer pours a hazy amber/reddish brown color with a couple inch frothy light tan head. Head retention is good, and there’s a decent amount of lacing. The brew smells like cloves, bananas, wheat/grainy malt and some caramel. For the most part I think the taste is the same as the aroma, but with the addition of some apple-like fruitiness. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick with moderate carbonation. I liked this, even though I don’t drink dunkelweizens very often I might have to grab a sixer of it. $1.08 a bottle at Trader Joe’s.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Cloudy copper/brown pour with a finger of tan head. Aroma has an artificial sweetness - sort of like banana Laffy Taffy. Not much else. The flavor is balanced much better though - standard banana/clove weizen notes with a liitle bread/malt. Very watery mouthfeel. Just fine for supermarket beer.

Very surprised by this inexpensive beer. Had great flavor, nice body, and nice finish. First dunkelweizen and now I'll have to try more.

Very unique smell on this one that’s hard to place, sweet and nice...not really fruity...sorta like bubblegum?? Taste is similar to smell, hard to place maybe ginger? finishes crisp and dry, wish it had a touch more smoothness on finish..unique

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. It pours a cloudy brownish orange color witha khaki head. The aroma is sweet with lots of bubblegum, a little bread and plum. The favor is similar with more spicy cinnamon and clove, bubblegum with some bread. Medium acidity. Just ok.
