3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Great yeast flavors but with an odd bitterness. Very smooth and is quite mellow cold and as it warms. Aroma is slightly skunky Hefe. Is it labeled as a generic Trader Joes beer? Decent stuff.

2.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle from trader joe’s. From the look and smell of it, josephbrau dunkeweizen had so much promise. It was a letdown when the taste was faint and watered down. I won’t buy this one again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours hazy amber brown with a big tan head. Aroma is banana and maybe a little vanilla like aroma. Taste is spicy malted wheat with banana and clove in there. Very good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle from TJ’s. Pours cloudy brown with tanned long lasting head. The aroma of bananas, caramel, and brown sugar. Medium-bodied . The flavor of bananas and brown sugar, very cloying. Also lightly tart. The finish is long and sweet. On the whole, is not bad. Too much sweetness though.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a muddy deep amber colour with a finger-thick creamy, yellowish head. The nose is full of the typical isoamyl acetate, phenolic cloviness, along with a honey backbone and an intriguing lactic tang. The flavour has all those things, with a bit of a mineral tinge (calcium?) and a much spicer clove character than suggested in the aroma. The banana/wheat is in full display, which is nice, but for a dunkel, I would prefer more roastiness and robust darker-kilned malts. There is also some diacetyl coming through, but it is complementary and completely inoffensive. The body is velvety smooth and lush on the palate, but not too slick and syrupy. The lable indicates it was bottled two weeks ago, and it shows! This taste fresh with no sign of deterioration. If I’m ever in San Jose, I need to stop in and get it even more fresh. I don’t understand why this isn’t rating higher.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This beer is a nice attempt at a dunkelweizen. It has the aroma of candy bananas in malt. It is an opaque brown caramel color with a nice light tan foam head that lingers as the glass empties. It tastes of bananas with a slight clove spice and a little caramel. However, the finish is a bit watery with a mild sourness. It did not have the weizen characteristic spice ending with lots of carbonation that is almost acidic. Overall, a nice attempt at a great price. It is quite drinkable, just not great.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a murky copper color - aroma of malt, wheat, spice and some fruit. Taste of malt, banana and yeast with some wheat. Mouthfeel was pretty solid. Actually a pretty suprisingly decent beer.
