mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA Jun 2, 2008 A nice beer in the tradional german dunkleweiss style. It didn’t have the distinction of a Hacker Pshorre, or Wiehenstaphener dark, but it was a very good beer of it’s style. Tasted pretty authentic. Nebulor (109), , California, USA Mar 2, 2009 Has a sweet toasted wheat aroma with a hint of banana.
Pours a hazy light brown color with a tan hue, thick biege head, and too difficult to see the action.
Lots of banana and toasted wheat taste with mild esters in the finish.
Light/medium bodied, watery/resinous feel, with lively comfortable carbonation.
What a deal at TJs and it’s OK to mix and match. beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Jan 8, 2009 12oz bottle from TJS poured into a white wine glass.. Pours very nicely with a thick and murky brown body. The head is a nice medium size but fades rather quick. Aroma is strong banana esters, slightly brown bananas. Its got a of yeasty doughness working there as well. Taste is similar, the esters are mellow and do not overpower but are strong. Very easy drinking and spot on for a dunkel weizen, not sure why the ratings are so low. I will be picking up a sixer of this next time. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia May 28, 2008 I think I’m rating the right beer (mine was branded as Trader Joe’s Dunkelweizen). Pours a very hazy and cloudy iced tea brown/orange colored. Head is big rusted off white. Smells like heffeweizen, wheat, clove, fresh. Taste is sweet malt, dark, with honey and wheat, banana, lots of carbonation. So damn hazy, truly unfiltered. brewblackhole (1366), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Apr 24, 2008 Aroma has plenty of the requisite, banana and bubblegum and you could actually smell some of the darker German malts used. This aroma is spot on. Taste is creamy banana and dark malt, again ,very appealing ,a little harshness in finish, like the bitterness had you sucked on the banana peel for a second. Otherwise surprisingly good TheMayor (1), , California, USA does not count Sep 21, 2008 I wasn’t sure about this beer when I picked it up @ trader joe’s, but to my surprise it exceeded my expectations. I normally get dunkelweisen on tap at this brewpub 12 miles from my house, but this beer did the trick. Its definitely worth a taste.
-The Mayor dylanschafer (2), Alabama, USA does not count Feb 13, 2009 one of the best for the price. I got a sixer at trader joe’s for 6 bucks. puts more expensive beers to shame. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jul 25, 2008 Some cloves and a lot of bananas in the aroma. This is pretty good. Smooth, not a lot of bananas in the flavor. Mostly just smooth drinking.
