2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Golden pour into pint glass. Aroma is very yeasty and bread. Flavor is very malty but doesnít offer a lot of complexity. Some spice notes and vanilla in the finish. Diffentley on the sweeter side but it is nothing offensive.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This isnít an IPA or a porter. I write that because this style of beer is rarely recognized in the U.S. craft brew industry. Itís a helles bock very similar to what is served in the beer gardens of Munich. It is the ultimate session beer because itís so drinkable with its prevalent malt and bread flavors. What sets it apart from the Buds and Coors of the world is that itís not watered down. It features a subtle yet rich flavor. I like this style and this one is a fine example of it.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours deep gold into a shaker. White head with medium retention recedes to sicken surface. Soured caramel aromas. Soft with soured fruits and malt upfront turning to a metallic bitterness in the lasting finish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
355ml bottle. Pours a ncie deep gold, really nice looking brew, nice head on it too. Very mild smell, some malt sweetness, mild almost smoke characteristic. Bigger mouthfeel, sweet fruitness, nougat, some mild hop notes, mild to medium finishing bitternes. This is a very mild (except sweetness) but unoffensive helles bock.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle from TJís who seem to have overall quality issues with their beer. Just meh. Sort of right for the style, but some definite off flavours going on. Biscuity, sweet and bready. Some hops in there for balance, but a metallic thing going on that I donít like. Too sweet and yeasty. Pours a clear orange color - decent white head. Looks better than it tastes. For 1.17 guess I donít expect much more.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Well this wasn't bad as a generic "beer", but it was a poor execution of the heller bock style. Appearance looked pale and weak for the style. The taste was decent, caramel maltiness with some fruit syrup accents, some hops. The finish however was unusual and unpleasant, had a strong grassy/vegetal hoppy aftertaste that seemed more like a pilsner and out of place in a bock. May give it a second chance later but the first impression overall was not good. Haven't had an exceptional beer from trader joe's "josephbrau" yet.

Better than you average lager but not by much. Some sourness and sweetness in finish. Bottle.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A little smaller than most maibocks/helles bocks I've had which is actually a good thing since I find those too malty and borderline cloying. This beer is more drinkable but not really spectacular
