JosephsBrau Heller Bock is a fine example of the regal brewing tradition still found in Germany today. This outstanding bock is golden in color, very rich, and moderately hopped. It is brewed with three types of imported malt, Hallertau aroma hops and lager yeast.

Golden pour into pint glass. Aroma is very yeasty and bread. Flavor is very malty but doesn’t offer a lot of complexity. Some spice notes and vanilla in the finish. Diffentley on the sweeter side but it is nothing offensive.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Malty nose, but some malt in the taste quickly moves into some astringent character with a slightly bitter finish, almost a bit of citrus. Best thing about the beer is that its 7%.

I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. It pours a golden color with a white head and little lacing. The aroma is bread, grassy, and funk. The taste is bread, funk, earth, and slight hops. There is decent carbonation. There’s some bitterness and some sweetness. This really hid the alcohol content. It was decent.

Bottle - fair size foamy head, clear medium gold color, sweet fruity malty aroma and flavor, mild earthy hop balance, not bad overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, Ann Arbor, MI. Clear medium gold. Sweet aroma, honey and some ginger. Thick, somewhat syrupy, not much flavor. Some pepper and more sweetness on the finish.

From a bottle initially thought to be a little sweet. Even the aroma comes across a little swett like flowery perfume. Would not know this is 7% tho. Yes, hides the alky pretty well. A little cloying at times, but never over the top. Not bad considering how dreary it is today around the beaver valley beaver county PA, heheh.

Really off putting. No aroma and a pretty repulsive taste. The best thing I can say about it was that it was free.

Burnished gold pour, white head. Nose is malt and a hint of alcohol. Bittersweet. Bitterness from the alcohol cuts into the malt sweetness. Body is sticky and thick on the tongue. Finish is malt and alcohol rolling around; malt seems to have the upper hand by a hair.

Bottle from Tallahassee TJs. Clear caramel color with a white head that disappears quickly. Light caramel aroma with some grassiness. Nice flavor and fairly true to form but maybe a little overly boozey and heavy. Fine.

Dark gold pour - nose is clean honeyed maltiness - light grassiness, white grape - fairly creamy texture - fairly good balance between clean malt sweetness, light floral notes, and hop grassiness - it’s nothing terribly complex, but for the price point it is a decent Maibock.
