Josephsbrau Plznr (pilsner) is a celebration of noble hops from central Europe. This style of beer was developed by German brewmaster Joseph Groll in 1849 in the town of Plzen (Pilsen), Bohemia (modern day Czech Republic) and was the first beer to be brewed golden and clear. This beers pin-point fine bitterness is perfectly accentuated by its crisp body.

No retention and no lacing. Smells of biscuit, lemon and grass. Tastes of vegetable, floral and bitter biscuit. Semi-bitter aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Functional label on a standard longneck. Clear, brilliant gold brew with a thin, webby white head. Not much remarkable about the aroma - just lagery and a little sunflower seed note. Frothy mouthfeel, light mineral notes, very light bittering. Flabby body overall after the initial swig. Some final bitterness at the end. This is just a whole lot of nothing - no reason to buy this instead of Bud. TJs, Tallahassee.

Tallahassee, Fl - Trader Joes - 12 oz bottle. Sparkling medium golden pour, soft, snow white head, thin lacing. Aroma has some buttery accents, a touch of saffrron like spiciness. Classic pilsener flavor, a touch of bitter hoppiness, some bready maltiness, a touch of honey sweetness. Crisp mouthfeel. Pretty decent and a great price at TJs ($1.17).

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2015 12 oz. bottle from TJs. Poured crystal-clear golden orange with a dense, well-retained head. Nutty notes over light bready malts on the nose. The flavor is a bit of lemon and grass over soft bread and lesser caramel malts. Just enough bitterness to offset the sweetness. Pretty clean, well-balanced and tasty.

12oz bottle - Ive passed by this beer a few times at Trader Joes, however this time I went ahead and plunked down the money and got a sixer and I was quite happy I did. A clean, flavorful, classic example of a fresh pilsener. A nice malty, bitter walnut-like aroma mixed with some wet pine. Flavor is clean, dry, with a nice hay-like hop flavor with some cracker malt to help the balance. Solid beer and I can see several sixers of this being bought because the price is so right.

Bottle: Slightly cloudy yellow, soapy white head. Grain, corn malt, vegetal aroma. Taste is slightly sour grains....lackluster grassy bitter. Didnt seem much like a pilsner at all. Pretty unappealing

12 ounce bottle from Trader Joes. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. The aroma is big sweet toast and corn. The flavor is more super sweet base malts, not very clean, a round rice or corn element to the flavor that you get in lots of cheap beer. Drinkable. Ive proven that much.

Bottle. Sour barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sour corn/barley malt and lightly bitter grass flavor. Cheap crap lager taste.

355ml bottle. 2nd of two TJ marketed czech pilsners. This is 5% per the label. It is nearly identical in appearance aside form some smaller carbonation bubbles. The smell is much cleaner on this one, verly light fruits, grain, very clean and basic. Flavor is much dryer all around and more bitter. Early on a bit of sulphuric off-note but it recedes as you go. It has an herbal grassy hop character and effervescent prickling carbonation. Much different than their other czech pils, this one is more like Zatec beer than the pilsen tradition, even north german. It is good imo.

I try this about once a year for the past three years and I hope for better results. I always try to get a fresh bottle but its hard to tell with the best by dates. Drinking the new label batch where the labels are all made to look old school, best by 12/27/14. Clear pale gold color with visible carbonation. In my Franconia weizen glass the head is medium at first and fades to a surface cover lacing. The biggest let down that the has is the hops are always dull or in this case even skunky. Also has a slightly sweet corn or husk component, maybe DMS. Its light and the crisp mouthfeel is nice. I agree with Notalush that I would rather buy a Full Sail product at this price point. I also disagree with Frank and think the Bohemian Lager is the much superior product. Bottom line: looks good and feels good but doesnt taste good.
