3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. Mostly clear, and golden with a lasting half inch of spongy foam. Clean crisp nose of grassy hops and a touch of honey and lightly toasted grain. Taste is more caramel and toasted grain on the front with the dry grassy hop coming in towards the end, along with a touch of lemon and resin. Medium bodied, with an excellent balance and smoothly carbonated. Easy drinking and an excellent American rendition of the grand old style.

Nothing really wrong with this. A bit on the malty side but it has a solid crispness that lasts from the beginning to end. Solid.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Not complicated or bold, just highly drinkable, incredibly clean, and well made. Straw, corn, hints of German hops. This is a nice session beer, or a "craft" beer to give to friends who normally go for BMC.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pale lagers and pilsners donít have to be full of adjuncts, in fact, the best ones are the cleanest tasting. JosephsBrau Plznr is a good example of this as itís a clean, mild pilsner with a hint of noble hop bitterness and a clean finish.
I poured a 12oz bottle into a pilsner glass.
Appearance: Bright straw yellow hue, completely clear, plenty of carbonation visible. Forms a large, white, frothy head which laces and retains quite well.
Smell: Very mild nose with a familiar clean lager scent. Nothing inoffensive, nothing inviting.
Taste: Describing the palate of a pilsner is a challenge since thereís not a lot to actually describe which makes it a challenge to defend a positive review. Maybe familiarity is the way to go as Trader Joeís JosephsBrau Plznr is a pretty standard Czech lager. Itís all-malt and made with the noble hops so itís brewed in the traditional style. A mild palate all around with the familiar lager flavor. The hops come in with a quick dry bitterness through the middle and even create for a faint lemony flavor. The finish is clean and dry, but not pasty or chalky. Nothing delicious, but absolutely nothing off-putting. Why canít more lagers be like this?
Drinkability: This beer does exactly what itís supposed to do. Itís more about the style than the substance. A light, short body, and thin, crisp mouthfeel makes it easy to suck down without any carbonation kickback. Iím actually surprised itís 5.4% ABV, since it seems like a borderline light macro lager (but with more taste). A great transition beer for all the swillers of fizzy yellow beer.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Trader Joeís. Clear yellow pour with a nice small soapy white head. Aroma is lemon and grassy hops, as is the taste. Crisp and refreshing, but not all that interesting.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
My house on July 8, 2012. Bottle into pint glass. Two fingers of head. Honey pale color. Foamy white lacing. Below average-to-poor retention.
Smelled honey, corn, wheat, grass, bread and light lemon hops.
Tasted honey, corn and bread mostly. Also some light lemon hops that brings everything together.
Light body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Refreshing, but abrupt finish.
Not a bad beer overall. A decent, refreshing pilsner. Great for the summer.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 ounce bottle from Trade Joeís. Funky banana-fruit smell, a fingerís worth of white foam on top, and a carbonated yellow-orange appearance. This was something like a hefe-pilsner crossbreed made up of wheat and fruit flavors. It was really filling and had the mouthfeel of soda. It had a distinctive flavor that was reminiscent of moist banana sodabread.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle 6/23/12 (Trader Joeís Naperville)-48į in Footed Pilsner-Pours a clear golden with a one finger white head. Aroma of corn, malt, grains, and hay. Taste of the same with a bit of dryness on the back end. This light bodied brew is pretty basic and nothing to write home about.
