3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at home in Salisbury, CT - picked up at Trader Joe’s in Manhattan, most likely. Pours crystal clear, yellow-gold, quite effervescent with a frothy white head. The aroma has some tangy cereal and biscuity pale malts. Light sweet flavor, somewhat metallic, with bitter and dirty hay, crispy cereal. Light bodied with average to lively carbonation. Fair bitter hay to finish, mild metallic tang, dry cereal, hints of biscuits. All in all a pretty fine pils.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear golden pour with a tall white head. Nice biscuit malt aroma, sweet bread, and yeast. However, there are some strong grass notes, a weird grainy quality, and some apple. Flavor is on the sweet side with a lot of grain and biscuit notes. Moderate apple, heavy grass, and a bit of yeast. Slight bitterness on the finish.

Bottle. Poured a clear straw color with a moderate frothy white head that lasted and had good lacing. Medium floral grainy aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet dry finish of moderate duration. This beer met my expectations.

12 ounce bottle from Trader Joe’s Glen Allen, VA. Pours a clear vibrant golden color with a thin off-white head. Decent head retention. Grassy aroma with a faint caramel malt finish. The taste is grassy hops, some mint, toasted malts and a bit of corniness. Thin-medium bodied. Decent.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
355ml bottle. 2nd of two TJ marketed czech pilsners. This is 5% per the label. It is nearly identical in appearance aside form some smaller carbonation bubbles. The smell is much cleaner on this one, verly light fruits, grain, very clean and basic. Flavor is much dryer all around and more bitter. Early on a bit of sulphuric off-note but it recedes as you go. It has an herbal grassy hop character and effervescent prickling carbonation. Much different than their other czech pils, this one is more like Zatec beer than the pilsen tradition, even north german. It is good imo.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
"not expecting greatness here, but i was really hoping for a nice, crisp hoppy pils. this bordered on macro, though not swill or offensive. i just got some semi-sweet generic corn-type malt, very (too) light hopping. i wanted a bite, it had none. Even for a buck, I’ll pass."
