Commercial Description:
JosephsBrau Brewing Company’s Winterfest is a rich, dark bock, inspired by the beers Bavarian monks brewed to lift their spirits during the long fasts of Lint. Dark roasted Munich and caramel malts worked wonders for hungry monks. Our Winterfest is sure to do the same for you. 7.5% alcohol by volume, 28 bitterness units.

Formerly known as Trader Joe's Winterfest.

Bottle. clear brown with little tan head. The aroma was of light smoke and caramel. The taste was the same with sweet roasted flavor at the end. Not bad.

Thanks to both shp555 and hopdog for sending this via Mystery Swap 2.0. Hazy deep brown pour with 1-finger khaki head. Aroma of roasty, nutty, brown sugary caramel and Munich malt, with some cinnamon and nutmeg noted in the aroma and flavor. Smooth, creamy palate, with a nice caramel, nutty flavor that finished smooth.

Pours a mahogany red with a large brownish tan head. First aroma is of caramel and malt. Taste has hints of caramel, chocolate, molasses and coffee, slightly sweet. Creamy on the palate with a bit of a hoppy aftertaste. A good everyday beer that pairs well with a brat and/or pretzels.

Bottle. Fresh aroma but not overly strong. Porterish. Mostly clear body. Dark, reddish brown with a tan head. Creamy, lasting head with nice lace. English character. Dry. Alcohol is a little harsh. Pretty decent, although a little cloying.

12oz bottle from TBC2 (thanks!!) beer pours a nice dark brown true to the label, smells caramel and malty and continues in taste with the malt, a malty taste with almost a woody type ending. Nice beer, overall nothing too spectacular.

Another average Trader joes brew. It has a nice appearance and aroma but it just lacks a lot of good flavor. The beer goes down alright but it has a lingering aftertaste.

This is a good beer. Dark brown and some foam on top. Caramel and malt aroma. Flavor has some malt as well, also an herbal quality that works for this beer. Consider it costs less than $1/ bottle; it is good, and even at a higher cost, not bad at all.

12 oz bottle via thebeercellar2 (thanks!). Pours a clear dark reddish brown with a large beige/tan head. Nose is toffee, hazenut, and a little sourness. Taste is very nutty, with a little spiciness, some woody hops. Some roasted grains come through in the finish as well. high carbonation. Medium body. A bit hoppier/roastier than i care for in this style. Definately an american take on a Dopplebock.
