Commercial Description:
JosephsBrau Brewing Company’s Winterfest is a rich, dark bock, inspired by the beers Bavarian monks brewed to lift their spirits during the long fasts of Lint. Dark roasted Munich and caramel malts worked wonders for hungry monks. Our Winterfest is sure to do the same for you. 7.5% alcohol by volume, 28 bitterness units.

Formerly known as Trader Joe's Winterfest.

Pours very dark amber with off white head that goes away very quickly. Aroma is sweet stale malt - quite musty. Taste is roasted malt with vinegar, sour and slight hazelnut. Some dark fruit flavors come into the picture later but they have a very artifical flavor. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and very slick. Not a very good example of the style, adequate at best.

Deep brown color with a foamy head. Light roasty aroma. Roasted malt flavor comes through nicely. A little spicey and sweet with little bitternes. Well worth the price. The folks at GBBC did a good job on this one.

Pours a dark amber/ruby color. Aroma is quite sweet and malty. Flavor is rich and roasty. Some coffee or chocolate seems to be present in the flavor. Slightly bitter finish with a trace of alcohol. Good beer for $4.99 a sixer.

Phenomenol looking august maroon with a frothy light crystal malt caramel tinged head. Malt intermingles in the nose with some dank German hops, but the malts do not completely unwind. Alcohol is well-masked, malting is again wound tightly so complexity never really develops, and there is a slight malt off-taste. Overall, decent malt flavor, with some sharp bitterish malt notes. A solid winter lager.

bottle-pours deep brown amber with a mall soapy off-white head. Big chocolate note comes to me at first with some notes of smoke (hickory) and some nice carmel undertones. some woodsy notes in the flavors with touches of smoke, chocolate, and slightly ashy. body is full, round and fairly nice! pretty good, but i liked their bock a little better.

Dark clear ruby, creamy tan head. Upon warming, inviting nose of raisins, toast, cherry, toffee, and touches of plum. Malty caramel and dark fruit flavor up front. Decent balance by some light grassy hop tones that play out late. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, malty, dark fruity finish. Good doppel and certainly worth a go at...
