Our Knotty Red Ale is a balanced beer with moderate malt character that comes across as toasted with subtle caramel notes. A deep reddish-copper color comes from dark malt which adds to the dry finish. Hop bitterness is evenly balanced. The toasted notes are key to the overall background of the beer and all elements are balanced. Knotty Red Ale is a malt-focused beer that has an initial sweetness and a roasted dryness in the finish. Full-flavored but not overpowering.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a dark cream head. Light malt aroma. Malt and light grain flavor with light caramel. Medium bodied. Grain and malt linger.

Draft. Funky cheese hop nose, foggy light brown, little watery across the palate with a short dry finish. I am enjoying the trend of good hoppy red ales like this one that are becoming more common.

On tap at the brewery. It pours an amber color with an off white head. It has some specialty malts in the aroma with light notes of red fruit. Typical amber ale... The flavor has lightly sweet malt with a pine bitterness. Good balance and mouthfeel. Nice amber ale.

Tap at Mission Pizza as "Rebellious Red Ale." Pours clear reddish amber with a medium creamy tan head and great lacing. Aroma is caramel, pine, a bit of cardboard. Flavor is the same, lightly sweet, lightly bitter with a metallic finish that I almost always get from Irish and Scottish Ales.

Tap - average size foamy head, nice dark amber/red color, sweet malt aroma and flavor with a good size hop balance
